Quality of prints Prusa XL
Hello, I want to buy a Prusa XL but I am scared to do. I looked several youtube movies and saw many bad results.
How it the quality of the prints when I get a XL in 2 months?
Chris
People never film good results, they don't make good clickbait titles. 'New printer works exactly as advertised' just won't get enough views.
Cheerio,

As with many things in life, I will preface this with a disclaimer: Your mileage may vary.
Watching all of the videos and publications on the printer up to the point I received mine (around February), I admit I got really nervous on the purchase of the XL. After receiving my unit and spending about 8 hours meticulously putting it together, I can safely say this printer out performs my LulzBot Taz 5! I did have some minor issues with the printer as follows:
Obnoxious noises: When I first got the printer, I have many many loud vibration noises seemingly coming from all corners of the printer. This ended up actually being that the linear rails had a few loose screws rattling (print quality was still perfect!). After tightening all the bolts down and the 6.0.0 firmware, the only thing I can hear is the lift moves of the printer!
Failure to pick up tool-head: The second issue I ran into was when trying to swap tool-heads. This only occurred once and the best I can tell I didn't get the posts tightened so this was user error. Retightening and calibrating the tool pickup cleared this issue up!
As a bonus, enjoy some prints from the last three weeks!

RE:
Mines been working great, especially since 6.0.0 firmware. The machine is super quiet now.
The biggest challenge is exactly that, big. Big prints means big shrinkage and long print times. So be prepared for a learning curve. It's not like printing on small machines like the mk3's of the world.
The multiple tool heads is awesome and it's opened up a whole new world of printing for me with respect to multi material printing. I've been able to do lots of stuff I otherwise wouldn't have even thought of. You can see in the video below where I used PLA to support the radius off the print bed with zero clearance so it turns out perfect.
I recently designed and printed some tires for my kids electric tractor and each wheel took 46 hours on the speed input shaping setting, and used just under 1kg of material.

This printer is not for beginners though imo. So based on your experience level this may or may not be for you.

Thanks for all the comments. The movie about the tire is amazing. Good to see quality resuts.
