Ikea Lack Side Table & Quality
My XL is too large to put on my regular (heavy) printing table, so I put it next to it on an ikea lack side table next to it.
Obviously the XL is giving that table a nice workout during printing, but "comfort wise" it is pretty perfect (and it seems that it was made for it size wise).
Do you guys think this will have an impact printing wise (ringing etc)?
I've considered adding a concrete slab between the printer and table to dampen the movements, but I don't know if that is needed.

No it wont make a big difference. The important thing is that the frame of the printer is stiff in it self. However you could attach the lack table to your printing table with some 3d printed connectors.

It's not a matter of horizontal space, I have a 4m long table full of printers and there is still room if i wanted.
The problem is that they are in the attic near the sloped roof side, so it's height that is the issue (it's much higher than I expected).
Prusa seems to agree with you. I asked if it would have impact on the print quality and the reply was "It could and if you have any issues you can then try with the printer on the ground to check. Though it is a stable enough surface to support the printer then it should be fine."
So I guess I'll just keep an eye on print quality then, haven't done much higher prints so far on the XL.

How the heck are you fitting the XL on a Lack table?! The dimensions from Ikea.com say it's 21" x 21". The printer itself is 32x32 not to mention the LCD display sticking out. I'm confused.

The printer is definitely not 32 inches 🙂 Thats an error on the prusa site. The lack table is indeed 21" and length wise the printer is sticking over a bit but the feet fit perfectly on the table. Wide-wise I have about an inch left on each side (excluding the spool holders).
Feet-wise it's like the XL was made to be put on a lack table.

Huh.... Color me shocked. Appreciate the picture to get the context. I think their measurements include the spool holders and some clearance on either side to account for material loading/unloading then.

Did some measurements for you and you are almost right (just not the about the clearance).
So the machines' base is 50cm width by 55cm deep (19.7" x 21.7").
A spool holder, when opened completely (it's 2 pieces sliding in each other) is 15cm (6"). So that makes a perfect 80cm (or 800mm) wide.

That makes sense. So it's basically the max physical size of the machine. I'd still worry about the LCD sticking out over the front of the Lack table. I know there are mods to reposition the LCD, but that seems like more trouble than it's worth.
If you have kids or spouses that trample around without looking first, that's a lot of potential for damage. Sadly, I have both sets of folks, which means someone would screw it up for me. It's tough when you're the only one in the household that takes care of things, and others just don't care. Makes it extra important to lay things out defensively for me.

My XL5T is also placed on a IKEA Lack table, which was still lying around from my MK3S/MMU2 IKEA Lack build (wanted to add a third one with cut legs).
Yes it is somehow wobbly but fits perfect. From my perspective it doesn't seem to impact print quality.
It's fine for now but I will to get something custom made later.
