Extruder Temp Control Enhancement Request

So noticed today when printing on the XL with only a single extruder/color,  and I think I can control this manually each print, but I kicked off a print that is going to take 3 days to complete and noticed while the temps are lower, that each of the other 4 extruders are at 170 C, even though there is no filament loaded in them?  I would think that the firmware should be able to detect when an extruder is not being used and/or does not have filament loaded and not waste the extra electricity heating up the extruder to be in standby mode when it will never be used?

Am I missing something here?   (and while I'm here, an option to "Unload All" print heads and run the sequence to heat and unload all 5-extruders would be awesome).

TIA - EK

RE: Extruder Temp Control Enhancement Request

I have not noticed that on mine, though I always keep all 5 heads loaded with filament even if they are idle.  I'm guessing you loaded a filament just before you printed.

There was a bug in earlier firmware where loading filament in a certain head would set all other heads to 170.  I believe the latest 6.x versions are now fixed, but my general workaround has been to do a filament load, then go to the menu and select Control -> Temperature -> COOLDOWN.

That forces all temps to zero.  It's an annoying bug though as you should not have to do that.

Brand new to 3D printing and my 5-tool XL is my first 3D Printer!Check out my Multi-Tool fork of PrusaSlicer to mix and match nozzle sizes.

Had that two days ago with FW 6.0.3 when loading E3 the E1 also went to 170°C.
I do the same workaround as you explained.
