[Prusa XL | Dual Toolhead] Unused Toolhead still performs purge at print start (even if not used in model)
Hi everyone,
I’m using a Prusa XL with 2 toolheads (Tool 1 = T0, Tool 2 = T1). At the moment, only Tool 2 (T1) has filament loaded (PLA), while Tool 1 (T0) is completely empty.
In PrusaSlicer (2.9.2), I did the following:
Assigned all objects, supports, and skirts/brims to Tool 2 (T1)
Disabled the wipe tower
Verified that no part of the model uses Tool 1 (T0)
Sliced the model for printing only with T1
However, when starting the print, the printer still commands Tool 1 (T0) to move forward for a purge/cleaning action and tries to extrude about 0.06 g of filament — even though there is no filament loaded. As a result, the print stalls because Tool 1 is empty.
It looks like the purge routine for T0 is triggered automatically during the start sequence, even if that tool is not assigned anywhere in the sliced model.

Sounds like you're using the single toolhead XL printer profile modified for two extruders rather than the correct stock 2T XL printer profile.

Ah, that makes sense. Turns out I was actually using a single-tool XL profile that I had modified, instead of the proper stock 2-tool (2T) profile.
Switched to the correct one, and no more unwanted purge from Tool 0. Everything’s running perfectly now.
Thanks a lot for the tip! Really appreciate it.
