RE: Workbench compatibility

24 inches is deep enough. I bought a 36 inch workbench, thinking that's what I needed, but when the printer arrived I found it fits onto a 24 inch workbench. Obviously the LCD display will hang over the front, though, but all four feet are on the workbench.

Neat and functional @fuchsr.

Now I have a delivery prediction I am designing mine but it will have to be built in place.

The minimum space at the rear is dictated by the overhang of the flament tubes but is that enough to access the back for maintenance? - and how often do you need to get back there?

Cheerio,

RE: Workbench compatibility

It's really not enough space. I have to pull the printer or the workbench forward. But then again, the only time I had to get back there was to read the serial number. Thus my pro tip: take a picture of the label!

RE: Workbench compatibility

I have mine sitting on two IKEA Alex desk cabinets and it fits well. The display hangs off the front by maybe an inch or inch and a half.

Mine is on a lack, for anyone looking for a cheap solution. A >3000€ printer on top of two stacked $10 lack tables. Yeah, nothing wrong with that!

@ fuchsr:

May I ask what "the thing" in front of the picture of your workbench below the printer is (in front of the keyboard)?

Best regards, Clemens

I think it does. Without it, I found the vibration levels to be close to unacceptably high.

It's one of my unsuccessful forays into multi-color/multi-material printing. It's a Mosaic Palette 3. Like the MMU2, I never got it to work reliably, and it ended up in a drawer (well, under the XL 🙂). You basically feed multiple strands into the device and it splices it together based on how much material of a color/kind is needed when. It got off to an ominous start by filament randomly coming out of the machine sideways, but I fixed that by tightening all the screws. Eventually it "worked" but I routinely ended up with broken splices at unpredictable moments, so the whole thing was unreliable. Maybe if you spend an inordinate amount of time fine-tuning the parameters for splicing, but then again, you may need to this for any combination of filaments, and this becomes unworkable. I managed to get a couple of filaments tuned okay, but I don't print the same thing over and over again, so having one combination of filaments work is just not good enough,
