Vat Tilting Motor skipping and hitting the print bed?

Recently my SL1S (upgraded from SL1) started making strange noise in the first few layers.

It seems like the tilting motor is skipping when the vat is parallel to the print bed. Once the first few layers are done, the remaining layers go on smoothly.

This happens even with a clean vat, no failed print residue on the FEP.

Has anyone encountered this?

After my SL1 -> SL1S upgrade I experienced the same problems. Strange sounds from the tilt motor (like stalling) and some retries. Also on the first layers.
I tried lowering the exposure time and that seemed to help a little.

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

May I know what resin and exposure time are you on?

Have you checked/recalibrated the bed tilt?  I find the supplied procedure a touch lacking, but kind of the best that can be asked without a few specialized tools.  The book procedure has you use the edge of the tank as a guide, but I find it's much easier to see light, or even use a feeler gauge with a narrower known straight edge.  Milling parallels work excellent if you happen to have a set around, but the beam on an engineers square is a good choice as well.  You need to be careful with metal around the screen area, but a count or two too high on this setting would possibly generate what you are seeing.  Better off on the low side than the high side.

As I remember, the initial exposure time was lowered by 5-8 s on Prusa Azure Blue Tough.

My tank/vat is calibrated with the "light" method and is parallel to the display.
