FlexPlate
Anyone considered installing a flex plate on the SL1 ? I love the one on the MK3, and i have whambam on some other printers

I HAVE NO AFFILIATION WITH THEM.. and no compensation from them. Just thought it would be nice to have this option for SL1 users

I think the tilt motion of the bed would tend to 'walk' a flex bed, out of position. maybe locator pins or similar could prevent that motion. \
Are you brave enough to fabricate a solution?

Thats a good point but the way whambam works is there is a base plate adhered to the printing plate and a flexplate that uses a pretty good magnetic to hold it to the printing plate (aka base plate). Works like the one on the MK3, i have it on other non-prusa printers, works well.
Wham Bam is if enough (30 or more) people show some interest at the link provided.

The tilting mechanism definitely makes using a flexplate, in their current iteration, problematic. I would love it if someone were to solve that problem. I'd buy one, or two!

The flexible build plates take advantage of the direct vertical lifting action of most resin printers. It's hard to disconnect the plate from the magnetic base if all the force is applied to the entire surface at once but easy to disconnect when applied to one side in a peeling action. The SL1/SL1S tilts applying that peeling action. Others have tried to use flexible build plates, including ones from Whambam but have run into issues of it "walking" as JoanTabb has stated. Some have posted on their failures using them here a while back while others have asked Prusa to add a feature to allow users to stop using the tilt feature and go to the traditional vertical lift so they can use flex plates.
There is a reason why Whambam does not make a flex plate for the SL1/SL1S. It's not because they haven't been asked to. They have been asked about it many times, but they won't due to these issues with tilting machines. They state it on their website pretty clearly.

Thanks i wasnt aware of that, though i thought JoanTabb's idea of set pins might do the trick.

I have the capacity to mill whatever locating features I'd want into something, I'd mill a shallow pocket in the build plate to restrain the flex plate. A couple of holes to epoxy magnets into, and a tab or two on the flex plate that stuck out past the edge for removal.
But the reality is that I have never had even a minor issue removing things from the plate. Just not worth the time for me personally. At that point I'd rather get a couple regular build plates and adjust them to the same height from the mounting surface so I could swap them. If I was running production I could see the want for it, but the machine work cost would be outside of what most hobbyists would consider reasonable.
