MK3.5 -Failed Hotend temperature test/
Hi,
I have updated from MK3S+ to MK3.5. Unfortunately, the final temperature test for the hotend failed.The nozzle temperature should reach 290°C in approx. 1 minute (seems too fast!) The temperature reached was approx. 180°C.I have since replaced the thermistor and the heating cartridge, but same result - test failed.Asked Prusa via live chat, but no solution so far...Does anyone have reliable information about the duration and temperature of the Hotend test?
Furthermore, I have a problem with the print image after the update; the adhesion on the print bed is great, but the distances between the individual strings are too wide and do not adhere to each other (see picture). No idea if that is a firmware or hardware issue (difference between MK3.5 and MK3.9/MK4 are also in range of step motors; no idea about it).

Same here after upgrade to MK3.5. And no solution from support after some test but it think it's from the firmware and ask me to wait an update.
But I can print with hotend selftest KO.
Concerning your first layer calibration, mine is like your picture 🧐 .

that print looks like first layer calibration needs re running, and live Z moving closer to build plate (larger negative number)

One thing that it might help for you to post:
What hotebd, which brand of a thermistor, which brand of heat cartridge?
I can assume you are using a V6 and Prusa-purchased products, but that might be incorrect.

Hi Joan,
I have made first layer calibration several times; the line prints (Z-pattern) are really ok (good adhesion) also the border of the plate print is very good, only the lines inside the plate are to wide/or to thinn so that no connection between them can be reached. Could it be that not enough material is used?

Right, I am using my original stuff from MK3S+ (it worked well in the old configuration before upgrade to MK3.5)

have you tried lowering Live Z? to squeeze the strings to a wider format?

Hello,
Can you explain what are your additionnal fine tuning you have done ? Because, i ve still same problem about hotend temp calibration and first layer.
For the first layer, I adjust z offest to have perfect line, but i notice the nozzle back up on the left of my bed and i have the same result that your picture. I don't understand why.

I just finished converting a working mk3s+ to a 3.5 that can't pass the hotend self test. I have original prusa hotend parts and I flashed the latest firmware - 5.2.2, like several others the hotend gets to about 169C. Has anyone figured a solution to this problem which I think is firmware related given the printer had been working flawlessly as a MK3S+?

My hotend selftest is passed adding a silicon socks on heat block.

have received firmware update from PRUSA support https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware-Buddy/releases/tag/v5.2.2
Before starting the test I applied some thermal paste to the heater/thermistor and - hurray! - be able to complete the tests successfully.😀

I removed the thermistor and added thermal paste, replaced and it still fails the hotend test. I watched the screen during the test and the temp seemed to be climbing at > 1 degree per second up to about 164C when it indicated failure. The temp did climb up to 167C before beginning to cool down. Thanks for the suggestion,

I had the same problem, I did all the usual things including contact support, who were extremely helpful but did not have a solution.
Upgraded to the new firmware 5.2.2 and tried again. Failed in exactly the same way but the screen asked me if I wanted to change the nozzle type. One of the options was for a silicone sock, changed to that and it went through the configuration, no problem.
It should be noted although I changed the nozzle configuration to say I have a silicone sock fitted, there is no silicone sock on the machine.
So printer now fully functional and fully passed its configuration.

Thanks, lying about the nozzle type got me past the hot end check. Hopefully Prusa will fis the firmware to allow me to specify a stock hot end without the sock,

I found the root cause of my problem. The 3,5 printer was an upgrade from a 3S+. As I said before I had to lie about having a sock on the extruder to pass the initial hotend temperature test. On my first print I got an error on the hot end fan not turning and went to the after setup fan test. It asked if the hot end fan was turning. Nope. I think it said to check the wiring to see if I had plugged the wrong fan into the wiring harness, It turns out that I did and plugging them in to the correct connector fixed my problem. Prnter now works as designed.
