RE: MK3.5 -Failed Hotend temperature test/

Hi everyone, sadly, I have to report the same issue with the topic starter Mk3 upgraded to 3.5. During the heater self-test, it awaits cooling to 35C and starts heating, expecting the normal heater to get to 290C in 1 minute. I even used a gas torch, but then the temperature overshoots, and at 300C, the firmware restarts the printer. Is that a bug of 6.0.4, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks, lying about the nozzle type got me past the hot end check. Hopefully Prusa will fis the firmware to allow me to specify a stock hot end without the sock,

Hello,

i've use the same solution for past the hotend check with the latest firmaware 6.1.2  (08/23/2024).

Experienced the same error.  Annoyingly in firmware `6.1.3+7898` it doesn't even tell you why self test failed, it just asks if you want to edit or retry.  Why would they show a generic error screen and not tell you why it was failing?  I had to run the test many times and sit there and stare at it the entire time to see that it was failing on the hotend test.  I then wasted a ton of time on getting it out of my enclosure, and cutting zip ties and inspecting every wire connection yet again.  Checking tension on all the hotend heating connections, etc.

I have a Dragon hotend, I had tried with the sock on and setting it to have the sock vs no sock and no change...but then I removed the sock, but set the printer that it had a sock and it worked. 🙄

So, Dragon hotend:

  • Remove sock (if you have one)
  • Set printer to "with sock"

Now off to determine why my printer that worked perfectly for years won't actually get close enough to the bed to have a functional first layer.

RE: MK3.5 -Failed Hotend temperature test/

For my (two times) MK3S to MK3.5S upgrade and firmware 6.2.6+8948 it was the other way around. It defaulted to "with sock", and I had to reset it to "stock" in order to pass calibration.

The handbook says to leave these settings alone, but clearly it should explain the differences and their meaning in the calibration tests. There is also no help to be found online, it seems. What is "stock" exactly? What is "with sock"? Didn't even know there was such a thing like a "silicon sock", until I read about it in this thread.

I also switched off the high-flow nozzle, because, really, I don't think the MK3.5S can even physically have it, can it?
