I gave Bondtech the link to this thread and they read through it. They said it looks like it can be done without voiding the warranty through the dev setting just like @evodesigns did it as long as you have the original heating element. I guess it will work with the upgraded one as well but the self test will fail.
They ordered the upgrade to test.

The only thing I did was change the Z Axis height but that was my fault I accidentally flipped the trap but.
Other than that, I changed the e-steps to 800. Like I mentioned before, I need to mess with this but I've been out of town.
Filament load and unload is off but that was before I changed the e-steps. Not sure if it's better now.

There is no Bondtech firmware.

Nope. Even if it did, as I previously mentioned you can change these settings such as
Z Axis, e-steps, extruder direction etc in the superuser settings.

this is all you did. Now I can order an upgrade set. And all tests are passed?
- Z height to 208.
- E-Steps were changed to 800.

Mine is done. My thermistor failed to detect the temperature. My X and axis motor needs to be replaced.

I'm back home and I can finally type it all out, here is what failed and what I did to fix it.
- Z-Axis Length

When I built the MK3.5 kit, I accidently installed the z-axis trapezoidal nuts upside down because I was swapping all PETG parts to PCCF. This led to the Z-Axis Length calibration to fail. Since it failed, I changed the Z-Axis length to 208mm to pass the test from the Advanced User settings.

After reinstalling the trap nuts correctly and resetting the Z-Axis length to 211mm in the Advanced User settings, the Z-Axis calibration passed the test.

- Extruder Heater
- I still haven't been able to pass this calibration test but I am in the process of getting a new thermistor (tomorrow) + a dowel pin to fit inside of the Mosquito. Adding the dowel pin may help with heat dissipation since there is no longer empty space in the thermistor cartridge bore. See image.
- Bed Heater
- I botched the install of this, the aluminum tape isn't fully covering the thermistor. Getting a new one tomorrow.
- Loading & Unloading Filament
- Changing the e-steps to 800 seemed to have a proper load and unload sequence.
Here's an XYZ cube with 800mm e-steps, I will calibrate it more when I have the time but nothing went wrong with the extruder heater/thermistor during this print.

Thanks for the update. The cubes are looking good. I use a bear frame and print with the mosquito at 170% and it is always a perfect print. With the 3.5 upgrade can I print 250 or 270% or are I am dreaming

By installing the 3.5 upgrade your print speed will double on average compared to stock because of input shaping, etc. The more rigid frame and lighter x carriage should allow you to go even faster. I think 250% speed compared to stock mk3 could be possible but I'm curious how input shaping will work at that speed. Because of the lighter x carriage the mk3.9 firmware might work better. I assume input shaping in that one is optimized for a lighter head.

That is really theoretical. I have a bear frame and I have never seen this come to fruition.

Yes, but that doesn't equate to much increase in print speed. I also have a bear frame and several Core XY. The CORE XY has benefits beyond speed, but speed is not as dramatic as one might think.
I love my Bambus, XL, and Voron 2.4, but speed and quality are not features that justify the higher cost of a Core XY.

It is. That's why I used the word "should". You can do even more if you don't care about quality so what's achievable / acceptable is really subjective.

This is an interesting read. I understand the pressure they are under because of other manufacturers but not releasing a fix for over a month when the problem is big with a seemingly easy fix and playing dumb at the same time is not a good look.
In general I struggle sometimes to understand the logic of devs when they pick which issue to fix... I feel like there should be someone living in the real world who's in charge to tell them what to work on. Some of them appear to work on whatever they find an interesting challenge to figure out. Just my 2c...
