MK3.5S+ Print Extruder Issues

Hello,

I am having problems with my first MK3.5S+ printer where I think the extruder is stringing/oozing when it's doing the first layer test.

I have previously did a test print in the past by making the 3DBenchy to see how well it did then, which was perfect with no issues whatsoever. Now the problem occurred just as I wanted to start on a custom print when eventually the printer decided to mess it up, but upon investigating I've found that I should be using PETG and not ABS for the custom print. So I went ahead to change it (little did I know that I started to pull out the filament manually and didn't set the printer to automatically unwind the filament before remvoing it), and started on my custom print where the first layer did well but after a couple of layers I've noticed a shift in the print and I would like to know why this has happened (see attached photo).

I have also attached another picture of another custom print I've made and noticed there are lots of gaps, so I thought this one might be a print bed issue at the time of printing it. I have adjusted the print bed recently to make it completely flat and had to manually adjust the Z axis so its closer to the bed when extruding.

Since I have been taking out the filament and putting it back in, tweaked the bed settings etc, I started to hear the clicking noise which appears to be the hotend and I think it will be something to do with the tube inside between the hotend and extruder that may be misplaced which is probably why I am seeing a lot of issues with the extruder lately, particularly on test prints. I have so far replaced the nozzle and checked inside above the nozzle and I don't see any sign of filament clots, so I assume it'll be the hotend that I am experiencing problems.

So if anyone has any ideas & suggestions that I should try to correct this, please do let me know.

Many thanks,

Ben

RISPONDI: MK3.5S+ Print Extruder Issues

Hello,

well known aspect. It seems to me just a too fast print speed for PETG.

Unfortunately the PETG has a low volumetric speed compared to the PLA, may be between 8 to 12 max.

That is what happens on my FLSUN V400 when I tried to print PETG at insane speed of 280-300. Even the MK4 does mess when I print with some types of PETG. So, I suggest to use a STRUCTURAL profile and to slowdown the speed, say 60%. If you do not get issues, increase by 10% until you see the mess. That will be the maximum for that specific filament spool.

Regards
