RE:

WOW ... my MMU3 upgrade was finally shipped  after one and half month... 🙂  better late than never....

They have done 2 shipments, one for the MMU3 and one for the other materials.
I was convinced that they were waiting to send the other materials to ship just one box, but now this surprised me, since if they shipped two boxes, then they could have shipped the other materials one month ago (they are just Prusament and lubricants) 🙄

I am curious to know what will be the 99€ content value of the MMU3. I already printed the MMU3 parts on the MK4, except the ones they said will be in the kit.

This is what you should reuse from your old MMU2:

As you see from the picture, you have saved almost all parts of your old MMU2.
To complete the assembly of the new MMU3 the kit could contain only:

-  few plastic parts
-  the new metal coupler
-  power & data cables
-  some screws & nuts
-  the daughter board
-  some PTFE tubes
- the magnetic ball and the rectangular magnet
- the new brass bushing tubes (they do not tell to remove the old from the old MMU2)

At this point, now that the assembly instructions are available, I can't figure the 99€ values from the above parts.

Lets see if at least the main label plate will be there. If they omitted the part with inserts I have no problem to print it, since I have a machine for inserts.
I will not print the spool buffer, since I use the dry boxes with the spools inside. I will let you know what is inside, as soon as the package arrives.

Regards

Yes I think the value for the upgrade is much overpriced. It might be a better idea to wait until the spare parts are available in the store and order those. But engineering effort needs to be reimbursed. And a company which is bankrupt cannot serve and maintain our printers. Finally I think it is good spend money (I ordered mine just the minute it was available - shipping in December).

The label plate and printed parts with inserts are included in the MMU2 to MMU3 upgrade.  There is a lot of stuff in the kit. With time and shipping, I am not sure you could source all of the items in the upgrade kit for a lower price.

Here is what the unboxed upgrade kit looks like:

Welp.  Once my Mk3.9 upgrade finally arrived, I forgot about tracking this upgrade.  Being on the west coast of the US, I'm sure my September 1st order was later than a bunch of other orders done that same day, but I finally decided to check on the status today and found out that my order is expected to ship between December 9 and 15.

I was thinking about printing the parts, but I'll definitely wait.  I print them now, I'll almost certainly lose them before the kit arrives.

for everyone, who updated from MMU2S to MMU3, is it necessary to update to MMU3 or is it enough to modify the MMU2S from the Karl Herbert modification ?

thanks

RE: MMU2S to MMU3 upgrade info

I ordered a kit so long ago I forgot I even ordered it.  This morning I see notices that it's shipped and on the way to me.
Like many here, I've already added a 5V PS, the magnet, improved cutters, etc.  I don't use the MMU much, because I find the problem I have is strings/dust getting into the extruder and causing problems that way.  The only advantage I see is that the display may provide more clues to a loading error than "The MMU needs attention"  I'd really like to know for example, that the Extruder sensor still reads 1 when the MMU sensor reads 0.  THAT would be helpful.  Otherwise, I would have cancelled this order if I had remembered I placed it so long ago.
I anticipate the MMU upgrade kit will be sitting in it's box for a while.  I've waited so long for it I don't care to have it.

RE: MMU2S to MMU3 upgrade info

Now I have the MMU2S to MMU3 upgrade I'm pretty pleased with it.  Far fewer failures than with the MMU2S.  It was a long wait to get it but I expected that.  A word of warning if buying for the UK.  Avoid using FedEx at all costs.  Despite Prusa collecting the VAT at point of order FedEx charged it again plus a handling fee.  The only was I could get the order was to pay it and then try and claim it back.  Even after 3 calls to FedEx they were adamant I had to pay VAT.  Prusa contacted them and corrected them.  Unfortunately I then had to file a complaint with FedEx to try and recover the money even though they admitted to Prusa that they were wrong.   Two weeks later and still waiting for my refund.  It won't be a problem with the Mk3s to Mk4 upgrade as I wasn't charged VAT by Prusa so I expect to pay it to the shipper.  Only FedEx seem to have issues like this.  DHL and DPD can happily cope with sub £135 orders that have had the VAT collected by the supplier.
