Wide(r) filament tips can't get into heat chamber. Moisture issue?

I've had an MMU2 and now the MMU3 pretty much as soon as one could get their hands on them.  I have had limited success with it.  I'm to the point where I know no amount of adjusting the Extruder or the MMU3 will improve my situation, and have been using the MMU3 less often as I give up hope for it.
The reason I get failures is because the filament can't get back into the heat chamber.  The tips come out a bit wider than they went in.  I don't get that much stringing.  The tips look perfect other than being a bit larger diameter.
I'm using a couple "Fresh from the bag" filaments and noticed the tip diameter seems a lot smaller than usual.  I live in the SouthEast USA, where it is typically very humid.  I put my filaments in a dehydrator before important jobs, but have not connected the likelyhood of humidity causing larger tips.  I've got so far, three filament dry boxes where I can have the filament under heat while in use.  Two more to go.
Question:  Am I finally on the right path?  If I can get my filament desert dry, will my tip diameter decrease enough that it can be reinserted into the heat chamber?

If not, is there a setting where I can have the tip cut after every extraction the first time?  Right now, I see it does it every third time, but by then, the extruder will have ground a divot into the filament due to the wider tip diameter and once the gears get to that, the filament will never get past the extruder, even though the diameter is small enough to do so.

I feel like I'm SO CLOSE to reliable multicolor.  If I can solve the wide tip issue, I'm golden.
