MMU3 filament sensor and/or communication issues

I have my MMU3 assembled and connected to my MK4S. I connected the MMU3 to my PC and was able to flash the MMU3 with the latest firmware. I went on to the steps to calibrate the SuperFINDA sensor. When I insert a piece of filament into the MMU3 brass opening, the red light goes out, and I can see the steel ball raise up, but the sensor icon on the LCD never changes to say "ON".  If I look at the Sensor Info page on the LCD, I don't see FINDA listed at all, just Filament Sensor. On the main menu of the LCD, the filament menu icon is not active. When I turn on the printer (with MMU turned on in the menu) all 5 LEDs on the MMU light up green, then number 5 starts blinking (green) while number 4 turns orange, then all the LEDs turn off. The MMU motors do not do any sort of self-test like the instructions say should happen. If I look in the version info page of the printer, it says MMU version is NA.  After reading all the comments in the online instructions, I tried the suggesting of performing a factory reset on the printer and re-running all of the calibration steps, but this did not help.  So either something is not communicating properly, or a bad cable possibly, or ?
