One Way Valve for filament (check valve)

Hey there!

I have made a check valve for filament with the balls of an 608 bearing.
You can use this for your MMU setup.

Cheers,

I'm confused. What is this for exactly?

It's a really nifty way to stop filament moving back to the spool when used with an MMU. It would replace the dual lever system Prusa uses.

As Martin said, but this is meant to be a concept. You can use the idea for your own filament spool system. I am working on some compact and airtight solutions for MMU where I use this and it's working perfectly.

What happens to the unloaded filament if it has nowhere to go?

Re: One Way Valve for filament (check valve)

could you change the file to have a solid top, no insertion hole, no screw hole, then print 3/4 height, pause, insert ball, resume and print top, covering the ball and preventing escape?

Why don't print the solid plastic ball in place and have a solid top without pausing anything? 😉
With MMU you could even use different plastic for the ball 😈

I think surface detail may disadvantage that option.... however, a roller, might work!

Go higher in resolution for this layers and the surface might be even beneficial for this purpose. But we think in the same direction 🙂

Yes, I'll do that 🙂

This does not take care about the unloaded filament.
If you want to use this you'll need some buffer for the filament.
It is meant to be a concept.

I am working on a perfect filament buffer, but it is not ready for publishing yet 😉
It needs to be an airtight system and easy to handle.....

wow 😯 ... really looking forward to see the final version. Very impressive. I need this :D. The Prusa solution needs to much space to handle all the filaments and this seems to be very promising to solve that on a reliable way.
