Printing text on first layer
Hello, I'm trying to print multicolour (PET) text on the first layer... The problem, that I'm handling with is, that the text outlines are not clean.
Here is a picture:
I tried plenty of different speed settings and different Z-axes height.Sometimes it looks better sometimes not. Right now he first print the black part then the white and finally the blue.. is there any possibility to first print the white then the blue and then black?
I think this would increase the quality a lot?

on the MMUv1,
Layer 1, it prints Filament 1. filament 2, filament 3, filament4 then keeps filament 4 to the next layer
Layer 2, it continues with filament 4, then goes 1,2,3 (assuming all colours are used on all layers) on layer 2 it keeps filament 3 untill layer three,
Layer 3, it continues with Filament 3, then goes 1,2,4 (Again assuming all four colours are in use)
the print will continue as per layer 2, until one of the filaments is discontinued, at which time the order changes depending upon which colours are left...
I suspect MMU2 is the same but 5 colours
L1, Fil1,2,3,4,5
L2, Fil5,1,2,3,4
L3, Fil4,1,2,3,5 etc.

that picture is very small, no way to see any details here.

I think Prusa Slicer usually optimizes color changes for speed. By adjusting the purging volume matrix I think you could push it to pick a desired order.
E.g. making the changes from black to blue/white really expensive should get you the correct order (at least if the text appears only on the first layer).
Fonts for 3D-print are an interesting subject. In history every medium (stone, wood, paper, computer screen) needed differently optimized fonts. The best solution to get good 3D-printed text would probably be to encourage font-desigers to create fonts that are optimized for 3D-printing...
I think next I'll try to print text vertically with some letters rastered into blocks that fit to the layer height.

What do you mean with: "adjusting the purging volume matrix"?
I don't think it has something to do with the font, if I print it not on the first layer it's perfect... But it has to be on the first layer.
RE: Printing text on first layer
also fonts on PC sheets will be dependent on the grain of the sheet surface. they will look much better off of a flat sheet

I try to make safe suggestions,You should understand the context and ensure you are happy that they are safe before attempting to apply my suggestions, what you do, is YOUR responsibility. Location Halifax UK

Any time you print on a textured surface, the result will have effects directly related to the spatial characteristics of texture, and are completely unavoidable. There are random associations between the nozzle position, nozzle height, texture height, and texture node positions. If you can accurately define all of these, then you have a chance at making software that can compensate.
Otherwise, be happy it looks as good as it does.

In my gcode viewer it looks like you are right :-)! I will try this in the evening and give you a feedback many thanks so far!
RE: Printing text on first layer
Yes it is the same with MMU2, he will load the first filament first 🤗 ...
It's much better now I only have to adjust the Z-level

Hi Beni-g,
It's the powdercoated surface that causes your problem. I have printed a lot of items with text, I even print my own business cards and I recommend you to switch to the smooth PEI sheet, as it work great for these kind of things.
