Non soluble supports in multi mode

MMU2S/prusaslicer doesn't allow the assignment of a filament for support if it is not soluble. If i try to select a support extruder i get an error that sais that "the wipe tower supports non-soluble supports only if they are printed without triggering a tool change. I wanted to use scaffold break away support with PET or even use PLA as support to PET. Or even better use old filament for support. i guess i could set it as soluble but i was wondering if anyone tried a better approach and  why prusa doesn't allow this option.

The limitation is there, as the support layers are printed independently from the object layers, and having a fixed support extruder would have to trigger a filament exchange at additional layers, increasing wipe tower size thus waste.

IIRC you can synchronize the layers by setting the support interface distance to 0 (fine if the support material doesn't bond to the print) and there is a tick box somewhere that toggles the setting to synchronize support and material layers.

Thanks for you r explanation and answers. I'll basically use the soluble settings then.
