Setting 'Extra Loading Distance" doesn't seem to do anything.

My new MMU addition to my Mk 3.5+ won't load the filaments properly because the MMU stops feeding the filament just short of the extruder gear. I saw in a previous  that adjusting the "Extra Loading Distance" parameter in the PrusaSlicer is supposed to correct that, but it seems to have no effect at all.

When the default setting of -25mm is used, the filament extends 16mm from the tip of the tube going into the extruder. When I changed this to -10mm, I got exactly the same distance. Either this parameter is doing something else, or there is something else wrong somewhere.

Has anyone else had this problem? Found a solution?

🤨 What's an MK3.5?

Have you done the whole upgrade including the sensor chimney?

Extra loading distance is only relevant for MMU mode. You can fine-tune the start of the purging line for the purge tower with it.

It doesn't really do anything for single filament mode.

I meant the Mk 3+; I am using it with the MMU2S  and have the 'new' filament detector with the interrupter.

I tested it by starting a print with different values for 'Extra loading distance' and pausing the print after the MMU had (tried to) load the filament. Then, I removed the filament feed tube from the extruder and measured the distance from the filament tip to the base of the fitting. No matter the setting, the length was the same, and too short to load. If I allowed the filament to extend a bit more by holding the fitting while it was loading and then placed it into the extruder, it worked fine.

Additional information:

I looked at the G-Code of files for two different values of the 'Extra Loading Difference" in the initial load section, and the code is identical. Either the variable doesn't do anything or it is effected elsewhere, in another context. In either case, the filament still stops too short and I don't see in the G-Code where this can be fixed.
