PrimaSelect PVA+ profile????

In anticipation of getting the MMU, I bought two rolls of PrimaSelect PVA+ Soluble Support 500g from Prusa's site...
https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/special/169-primaselect-pva-soluble-support-500g.html
Tested and recommended as soluble supports for our Multi Material upgrade.

But I only see a profile in Slic3r for the Verbatim BVOH Soluble support filament.

Can I use the Verbatim pva profile with PrimaSelect pva?
If not will there be a separate profile created for PrimaSelect PVA?

Does anyone have experience printing with primaselect pva. Any tips or suggestions.

Re: PrimaSelect PVA+ profile????

i have both BVOH materials the Prima and Verbatim
just use the Verbatim for the prima and adjust as needed.

i used the material for the first time and was very disappointed in the performance of soluble filament.

I'm giving it a go as we speak on the palette 2 pro. I needed to make adjustments indeed. but in what direction?? who wants to trial and error expensive filament. seems to be working but i'll need to continue tweaking the profile.

trying the pva as we speak. seems something is odd with the soluble material profile. I might try the normal profile but its working. purge block is all wrong.

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

Re: PrimaSelect PVA+ profile????

PrimaSelect had a profile for MMU1; I don't think it has been considered for MMU2 as BVOH was pushed by certain people 🙁

My experience of PVA is that it can be very problematic. It is very difficult to manufacture with consistent diameter and often goes way out of spec. The roll of eSun I tried to use on MMU1 would on occasion, not pass through the cooling tubes.

I ended up trying PrimaSelect which worked OK; I also have an unopened spool of Scaffold.

I did try BVOH on the MMU2, but it's characteristics changed significantly over the course of a 12 hour print, to the extent that it was unprintable at the end. However, that was during a humid period in the (very) hot summer.

Basically, I gave up with soluble supports 🙁

Re: PrimaSelect PVA+ profile????

well im taking 1 for the team. just ordered some PVOH.

but so far so good. kinda had to fight with it for the first few loads. but it seems fine now. I think I should run some proto pasta metals to score out some of the tubes 😀

2nd pva print seems like a success havent dissolved it yet. Im 95% convinced 1st pva print could have been a success if i didnt have to adjust the primaselect pva profile. That stringy hair behind model is from octolapse moving print head quickly to take a shot - and also untuned pva settings.

@pjr guess i Got lucky. I'm still scared to try on mmu2 but I guess I must now..... What do u guys think of my drybox?

What do u guys think of my drybox?

Well, as you know, I have had huge issues with MMU2 (until I changed the extruder body), so I may try again. However, the best thing to do is to cut off the amount you need and keep the spool in a dry bag.

Re: PrimaSelect PVA+ profile????

I've been playing with some Gizmo Dorks PVA I had laying around from a previous dual extruder clone. I tried the PVOH profile and it was a huge failure. I've had much better luck with the old MMU1 PVA profile.

ok. Doesn't dissolve as quickly or as easily as i thought.
Also didnt need such a dense support.
Gonna try soluble interface only, next.

Re: PrimaSelect PVA+ profile????

Yeah, doesn't really dissolve so much as it just gets slimy. But the results are nice. Here's an upside down Benchy. With regular supports this would look terrible.
