MMU2s Fail to load loop

This is driving me insane.  My MMU only works if it loads first time, if there is any kind of failure it cannot be corrected and I don't understand why!

If the MMU fails to load first time it is totally impossible to correct the issue.  Although I follow the instruction and the MMU gets recovered every subsequent load will go down to the extruder, push the filament door and thus the filament sensor and continue for a bit.  Then the extruder reverses pushes the filament out and it retracts.  It then repeats this a few times with one of those also slicing the end of the print before finally coming up with a load fail.

The challenge gets worse in that it will repeat this ad infinitum because there is no way on the menu system to terminate the print currently in progress on the machine that I have been able to find.   So I spend ages with the filament going in and out and not actually ever getting to print!

Why is there no option to stop a print in progress on the machine?  Or am I missing it somewhere, and why does this freakary with the MMU keep happening?

double check your IR sensor.  also, what firmware on printer and on MMU?

@xayoz

3.9.0-3421 & 1.0.6-372.   This only happens once there has been a fail on MMU load.  It the MMU works first time then all is good.  The best way to recover seems to be turning the printer off and starting again.   When you do that then everything works okay.

I am suspecting there is some kind of firmware issue here because if I try and use the MMU buttons to reset it does this business with the filament feeding into the extruder then coming out again.  If I turn off at this point and reload the MMU, then it will run fine and not have another issue.  Something about correcting the MMU mid print is not working right for me.

RE: MMU2s Fail to load loop

try updating to newest firmware.  mine did the load/unload thing at first.  turned out, for me, it was the ir sensor...if I disconnected the bowden tube and put in a piece of filament, the door would trigger the ir sensor, but i could wiggle it to have it trigger and untrigger...I shimmed it with a piece of paper, now it works properly without issue.

sorry for the late reply, I check my board daily, but only come on here once in a while

I agree that there should be a way to cancel a print when the "MMU has a problem, fix it." with not other options than shutting the power down. I'm taking the MMU off my machine; I'm sick of dealing with all the fussiness and attention it needs.

Here is the video from today's trial.

Prior to this I disassembled the Extruder again to make sure there is no pinch on cables or anything of that sort.  Re-aligned the chimney again with 1.5mm allen wrench to make sure IR sensor get triggered with "1" several times. Using the latest firmware on both Mk3S and MMu2s (3.9.1 and 1.0.6). I did reflash the mmu2s again with 1.0.6 just to make sure.  I'll re-flash the MK3 with latest now also to see if it makes any difference.  Sliced with 2.2 with almost all default settings.

I am on the latest update, so I think this is just something in the firmware that is not as good as it could be.  If it all works well then it's great.  If there is a problem it is a real pain in the butt.  Does give me something to play with though
