MMU2 malfunctioning at start of certain prints

Overall I've had amazing success with the MMU2 (MK3). Probably mostly because my designs don't need all the many color switches.

The problem I've been having is a weird one.
With some gcodes the MMU crashes (or loses connection to the main board) as soon as I start the print. The printer carries on as if it didn't have an MMU and all MMU related options disappear from the menu. Restarting the printer brings everything back to normal.

I've tried re-slicing the same STL files a million times with different settings and the result is the same every time. Other designs with the same settings work perfectly.
I've compared the gcode in a file that fails to a file that works and the start code is identical.
I've checked for errors in the design and tried exporting the STL again.
Talked to tech support and they asked me to factory reset and re-flash newest firmware.
None of it worked.

This is an example of a gcode that keeps failing. Simply start then immediately stop the print and check the menu to see if the MMU options still exist.

Have anyone seen anything like this and found a solution?

You are not the only one this is happening to. Several user encounter this including me. Seems to be firmware related because just restarting the printer is sort of a workaround to start the print.

Yeah I read that some people are having this behaviour but it is different than what I'm experiencing.
I only ever have this happen on a single design of mine when using the MMU Pretty PLA printer profile. Restarting the printer and trying again doesn't change anything.
I found that switching to the default MMU printer profile lets the print run just fine.

I'm not sure if this solution applies to your specific problem but maybe its worth a shot.

Now that you are mentioning it … I think it only happened on my printer in single mode and never in mmu mode. At least it happens way more often in single mode. 😕

just food for thought.... i'm lazy and never actaully tried single mode in slicer.... i just kept selecting everything as one color which turns the purge tower off and it treats it like a single material.

i did this cause i didn't want to loose my settings while messing around.
