What's the difference to the regular PEI sheet?

From the looks of it, the PEI is bonded permanently to the sheet and not replaceable like the existing sheets, I would also hazard a guess that the sheet is first powder coated with something to make the smooth top coat adhere more strongly than plain adhesive, so no more bubbles or rips in your sheet.

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.

That makes sense. It could be made even thinner than. If the bond is strong, that would be really nice.

If it is as sticky to PLA as the textured sheet, I want no part of it.

ps: or said another way: sounds like a PETG smooth sheet.

Great marketing idea: produce sheets that are plastic specific: users can now buy 5 sheets with their Prusa printer.

i would be totally fine with that as long as each surface is custom made to be perfect for the specific material.

Being able to print PETG without a glue layer is very nice and if we would have a sheet with similar adhesion for PLA id buy it in an instant.

Afterall beside the easy removal of the prints being able to swap the sheets is one of the main selling points of the entire sheet system.

the structured sheet doesnt have any problems with PETG its the current smooth sheet that has problems because PETG adheres to it so well that you can rip off the PEI surface before the part comes of the bed.
this is why people love the textured sheet for PETG and this would also be a major plus for the new smooth powder coated sheet.

True.  I have used one of the sheets for over a year almost exclusively with PETG, as long as it cools enough, there is no problem.

You should change your icon to black circle 😉

Best to hide amongst the mortals.

ps: I already purchased the shirt Bub or someone recommended - the one where I only give negative feedback because I am wired that way.

pps: because I'm the guy in the crowd asking the snake oil saleman "What's in it?" doesn't make me a bad person.

Tim: Very fitting shirt for you.

I am throwing a party on the forum the day you give positive feedback on the Forum.

Charles, you are a pain in the arse.  There, that was a positive feedback compliment. Where's the booze?

ps: positive feedback results in generally bad effects ... lol ...

On a more serious note: my concern about the proposed smooth PC sheet is that the process used will be the same as the textured PC sheet.  You know, the one people are having a really hard time getting PLA to stick to?

There is a small fear in the back of my mind that Prusa is trying to cut costs, and may eliminate the stickered sheet for a lower cost (but same  sales price) PC version.  Reducing manufacturing costs and increasing margin is normal operating procedure for any business: and it doesn't mean they are evil: just that putting income ahead of the user is sometimes bad business.

As long as you keep Rf/Rg reasonable, everything is fine 😉

PEI Sticker sheets are available from Buildtec and the ones I got front them are superior to Prusa’s.  They are Amber and very durable.  If you like sticker sheets and Prusa changes, try their pEI sheets.

I apologize.  You perceived pessimism got to me but that is on me.  I don’t understand the booze comment, but then again I don’t drink.

Have a nice day!
