MMU2S crashes constantly

My MMU2S used to work pretty well but now it crashes (all lights flashing) after settling in almost any position. I've tried everything I can think of. I've reflashed all firmware, rewired all power and logic cables, tested all lines for continuity, factory reset the MMU, validated IR sensors and FIDNA, completely dissembled and inspected everything, and manually tested loading/movement using the buttons on the MMU.

Despite my attempts, I end up with the MMU moving to a location and throwing up the all lights flashing error code. It seems to correlate with the exact timing as to when it will drive the feeder motor. I know it works because sometimes it can actually load all five filaments without crashing. The second you go to load an already loaded filament to the nozzle I've got a 95% crash rate.

I don't know what else to do :(. I feel like this is either the MMU board or the einsy board giving me some kind of issue with communication. I would love any assistance I could get!

Had the same problem until I found out that little edge where the razor blade cuts the filament against was cracked and slightly slanted.

@yveske that’s interesting. I replaced all of my parts for the knife and selector with the upgraded versions recently. Everything seemed to move super smooth without issue, so I assumed I was good. Maybe I need to take another look

It took me a while to figure out because the selector did the left/right edge calibration without a hitch and only gave an error when the chosen position needed to be reached.

@yveske thanks for checking up. It is working again and I cannot explain why.

Back to failing again. I am going to try to escalate to Prusa. Maybe they can send me a new board.

Having the same issue. Works off and on. Just when I think it's fixed... it starts this all over again.

I blew my Einsy by cleaning the hot end using a brass brush (whole other issue) so during that time...my MMU2S has been perfectly not working :). That said, when I ordered another Einsy I bit the bullet and ordered another MMU2S controller. I'll post back with my experience once I get it.

Could be a bit far fetched, but your experience might be related to this issue discussed on GitHub: https://github.com/prusa3d/MM-control-01/issues/78
In my case, that additional capacitor made the zeroing (at the startup) of the selector much quieter and predictable. It didn't solve my actual issue, though - which was the two loose screws on the "drum" that selects which filament gets driven.
