Reloads the same filament instead of changing

Hi,

I have a MK3s+ and a MMU2S. The setup works without problems in the "Single" setup, now I am trying my first multicolor print and I am facing a problem:

The printer starts to print with the first color. Then it moves into the wipe tower and after a short period of time the head slows down. Then it tries to unload the current filament, but the filament is unloaded less than 2 centimeters (!!). After another short period of time, the printer loads this exactly same filament back into the nozzle, spends some time in the wipe tower, and continues to print in exactly the same color.

If I use the LCD, I can switch filaments without problems: Load filament 1 into nozzle, unload, load filament 2 into nozzle, unload, and so on.

For me it looks like if the PrusaSilcer is not sending the correct commands to unload the filament.

Any ideas how I can solve this problem?

Regards,
Martin

If this was a slicer or gcode problem the MMU shouldn't try to change filament at all.

On the LCD you should see what filament is used or what it is changing to. On the 3rd line in the middle you see F1 to F5 for the filament that is used and it will show for example F2 > F3 when changing from filament 2 to 3.

But if it just unloads 2 cm I would guess that one of the sensors (ir or FINDA) is not adjusted correctly.

The display shows all the time "F1". When the head slows down in the wipe tower, the IR sensor goes of for about 2 seconds (I attached a LED as in Filament Sensor Indicator). Then it continues in the  wipe tower with "F1" and finally prints the second body (which should be printed with filament 2), but also with "F1" in the display.

Just as if I made an error in the PrusaSlicer?

I think that my sensors are working fine. I checked it with the "Support" menu and by manually inserting and removing filament. Also, I have no problems if I use the LCD to "load into nozzle" and "unload".

Here is my file that I am trying to print: Test

Just realized this message in OctoPrint:

Not queuing T1, that tool doesn't exist according to the printer profile or was reported as invalid by the firmware. Make sure your printer profile is set up correctly.

This does not sound good.

!Facepalm!

I did not increment the number of extruders in OctoPrint from 1 to 5.

Now, with 5, I just made my very first MMU2 multi color print.

Thank you, Baklin. Your hint with the display and "F1", "1>2" and "F2" led me into the right direction.

I should have asked you if you used OctoPrint. My first MMU print failed in the same way as I also forgot to change the settings in OctoPrint.

Good to see you got it working.
