Re: Filament sensor question.

Well the sensor itself isn't causing the melting. The melting is caused by a fault on the boards (Rev 0.2), leading to a short circuit. It usually doesn't occur near the sensor itself, but up in the corner of the board. It seems to have been fixed with 0.2e boards.

Re: Filament sensor question.

Thanks for this post. My filament sensor stopped working after I upgraded to 3.5.0 and I just got a chance to try and figure out what's going on.

Re: Filament sensor question.

My filament sensor started off shaky, misdetecting... but since a recent firmware update it has been great.
Autoloading and filament usage quantification works with every filament I throw at it (glossy > white, black, red, green, blue, orange), (matte > black, white).

IMO, it should be able to be used with the MMU2. At least it could indicate when loading if the filament has gotten to the extruder successfully, and same with unloading. It could be used as a supplement to the FINDA. Atleast as an option.

Re: Filament sensor question.

Try zerobeast firmware. It activates the sensor for loading/jam detection with the MMU.

New MMU2s with the new firmware and MK3s extruder/sensor should do that. We are waiting for the vouchers and shipments to see it working in the wild.

Re: Filament sensor question.

i got my mk3s kit however i doubt i will be installing it anytime soon. my mmu2 appears to be working ok and i had just had the entire thing apart making all the upgrades for the mmu and then removing the idler for a bearing. plus i hear some bad things about the new STL parts and would rather wait another 6 months to hear about all the horror stories and STL part revisions. since i had my MK3 i've had to replace every single 3d printed part on it sometimes more then 4 times because of the constant STL bugs and fixes. i'm honestly sick of it i just want to get some use out of my MK3 MMU2

What’s wrong with the Stl parts?

Re: Filament sensor question.

people have reported the tolerance is wide and the nozzle can wiggle around. there was another person that found some of the alignment was off in a few areas they reported it on github but there was no official response.

Re: Filament sensor question.

Ahh yep. I've seen the dimension change for the E3D throat. I used the old dimensions on my Mk3H extruder. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3431164
