Octoprint turned off my filament sensor?

Hi all,

I recently got octoprint added to my setup. I have an i3 mk3s+ with an MMU2s, and I’m using a raspberry pi zero 2 for octoprint. I let a print go on its own to test the Timelapse feature using the octolapse plugin, and when I came back the print had failed. The printer was continuing like it was printing, but the end of the filament was several centimeters from the hot end. I verified that the filament sensor is reading correctly. Any idea what happened here?

Dont run Octo myself but possibly https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/issues/3148   or https://community.octoprint.org/t/resume-does-not-check-tool-bed-temperatures/39107

Not sure how MMU complicates things but possibly the problem is that the printer reacts to filament runout but does not tell Octoprint who blithely continues to send GCode. I think that the latest version of printer firmware enables the marlin features required to signal pause from the printer.

It looks like I have the latest firmware, 3.10.1. I’m also not sure how the filament managed to get retracted like it was, unless the MMU decided to pull it back for no reason

I was printing with my MK3s+ with  MMU2 printing in single filament mode,  last night my print ran out of filament but kept going and completed with no errors but my print was incomplete. Is there any way to configure the Octoprint so that it can pause, or have it switch to alternate filament color, should I use MMU2 option and not single mode to make this happen?

If it runs out of filament the "Spool Join" Firmware settings will instruct the MMU2 to switch to the next filament color.

There is a niche use of SpoolJoin when printing multi-material models. If you have a two-color print and, in PrusaSlicer, set it to use Filament 1 and 3, there is now a spare spool loaded to Filament 2. This will be used when Filament 1 runs out. In addition, Filament 4. and 5 can be loaded before printing with the same intention, substituting for Filament 3.
