i have exactly the same issue. bug needs to be fixed.

updated to the latest octoprint and cant connect.....

which device (dev) do you use?  (dev). Do you have a backup of the entire SD card with v 1.3.6? RPI enabled (see LCD, connection over GPIO=on, USB=off)?

cableconnection from the pi to the einsy ok? USB or GPIO? Baudrate ok (115200)?

I managed to figure out the issue. 
I found a lost by another user having the same issue on GitHub. 

I had my palette2 hooked to the pi. 
The pi wouldn’t connect to the printer. 
disconnected the palette 2 and all is good. 

I have installed the palette 2 and canvas plugins now and will test again that the pi can still connect to the printer.

There is also a forum there. The product is relatively new and there is still some potential for development inside.

Octoprint no longer connect to MK3 after updating from 1.3.6 to 1.3.12. I can connect to the rpi zero w via SSH and web. I tried to roll back by doing a re-image of the SD card but it behaves the same way.

Error message:
There was a timeout while trying to connect to the printer

I am having the same issue on two 3b+'s connected to mk3's, newest update has disabled any connection via GPIO (power via usb) and can only connect over usb. This seems to be a pretty bad bug. Please advise anything i can do to remedy this, as it was working before the 1.3.12 update
