Octoprint ignoring Z Offset

Hi,

I have been having some issues with Octoprint lately.

Every time I start a new print, it ignores the Z Offset and starts to print too high up.

I ran a "First Layer Calibration", it's like I never did it once I have a print running from octoprint.

Did anyone run into a similar issue?

Cheers

Have you tried printing the same file from the SD card?

Do you get the same result?

Octoprint shouldn’t be adding anything to your gcode.

Cheers

Are you printing the exact same gcode file from the SD card and via Octoprint?

Strange. Another user had a similar issue recently, with z height failure, not necessarily re Octoprint. The problem turned out to have been extra commands in the ‘Start G-code.’ I thought maybe something similar was going on in your case.

I’m running Octoprint on a Raspberry Pi 4b connected to a MK3S+ without issue. I can’t imagine what Octoprint could be adding to your gcode to cause this problem.

I would start by examining the gcode for any missing or suspect start up commands. You should be able to export the file from Octoprint so you can compare it, side-by-side, with the file on your SD card.

I would disable all Octoprint plug-ins and try the print again.

Is this new behavior? Have you had Octoprint running properly up to now? Has anything changed with you installation?

I don’t feel like I’m being terribly helpful. Perhaps a forum member with more expertise than I will have something to add.

Cheers

I will compare the gcodes.

I have been using octoprint for a while now and never had issues before.

I added the Prusa Leveling Guide plugin and made the required changes to the printer in order to level properly the bed.

Did the Z height problem start after adding the leveling guide plug-in?

Maybe something to look at?

it's weird, I tried to print another object and I am not having any issues.

I will definitely have a look at the gcodes when I have time

This is a real problem that I've run into as well, would be curious to hear solutions that anyone has come up with. I'm currently using Octoprint to level the bed, and then going back to printing directly from the machine because it is respecting the live-Z adjustments.

I've had issues with Octoprint where  the workflow is like this:

1. Upload and Print from Octoprint

2. Have to cancel due to something I need to change/error /etc BEFORE print starts.

3. Start print by clicking in Octoprint and selecting Print on the G-code file I uploaded before

4. It ignores my start G-code from the slicer
