Octoprint - external 5V for Einsy Rambo

Hi, my question regards Mk3 with Octoprint PSU control. I have custom made shield with relay triggered by Raspberry. This shield is connected in front of Mk3 PSU, so when it is not triggered, MCU of the printer does not have power, thus Octoprint cannot connect to it (and can't trigger relay via g-code). I found that Einsy Rambo has connector labeled J7 for +5V. Can I safely without blowing anything connect external 5V to this connector and thus providing power for MCU and USB chip for Octoprint to connect.

Thanks

Looking at the schematic, you'd also be powering everything else (stepper drivers, fans, LCD, etc). At that point you might as well just leave the printer on with the heat and motors off (M84) rather than the complicated setup you're proposing.

The +5V output traces are also not designed to be single input. Under certain conditions they might light up. So the answer is no, not safely.

Thank you for your reply.

Topics you mentioned was also my concern, but I was not sure.

So I will run my printer with heat elements off.

Thanks
