Octopi webcam setup

Hi,
I am a little bit at a loss about how to setup my webcam for octoprint.
I have a Raspberry Pi2 connected via the USB port and it connects fine, but I am in doubt whether I need to install anything particular (drivers etc.) at the system level, or whether the webcam setup should be done from within Octoprint.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Berthold

It's actually quite plug and play, if you by a USB camera known to work with the RPi.
I started with the raspberry pi camera, but couldn't find a satisfactory cable routing for the ribbon cable. My RPi is mounted above the Einsy box.

When I stuck the printer in a LACK enclosure,I went with a Logitech C270.
Reboot, and the pi just sees it. Octoprint Timelapse just worked. I added the Octolapse plugin. Again, a quick setup on the plugin tab, and all was well.

Another cool plugin is the Timelapse Dropbox auto upload. It takes your mp4s and automagically uploads them to Dropbox.

Hi,
I am using an old Logitech Orbit Sphere camera. I got it to connect to octoprint, but this camera has to be oriented via the internal servos and octoprint does not seem to have any controls to control a webcam.

So, I want to try to view the camera not from within octoprint but rather through Tinycam monitor on my Android phone.
Tinycam monitor allows for controlling a Linux camera via MJPG Streamer, but I don't get it to connect to the camera. Is octoprint using MJPG streamer as a webcam engine and is it installed on the underlying Linux system?

Thanks!

some more information on mjpg-streamer controls in octoprint here: https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/8e7g4x/adjusting_focus_in_octoprint/

The controls never pop up on the 8080 test page for me, however running the v412-ctl -c commands via terminal works fine on my c920.
