Increase Z axis height

Hi

Increasing my z height with a new frame.  Wondered if anyone has swapped the lead screws out on their stepper motors?  Normally the lead screws are just glued onto the stepper rotor.  Anyone done it?

Lead screws

You might get better results by just buying new ones.

Keep us posted.  I have no idea how you would do this on Prusa steppers.

Easy

Hi

Easy to do.  Take out the 4 screws and split the casing.  Remove the rod and bearings.  Make a note of the amount of rod sticking out past the lower bearing bush, 6mm in my case.  Put some cardboard or other protection around the rotor.  Put the lead screw in a vice and clamp sole mole grips to the rotor.  Give it a twist to break the glue and remove the rotor, bearings and bushes from the lead screw.  Then glue the rotor on the new lead screw with some epoxy and re-assemble.
