I'm not sure that you'll be able to run both off the Pi Zero 2. In fact, the Author of Octoprint has gone to some lengths to warn people that the Pi Zero isn't suitable for the software.

When I ran it, it could handle the bare minimum. That being uploading and handling the printing and honestly, it did that fine. When it came to wanting to run plugins and a camera though, it was not up to the task. So I went with a Pi 4.

Don't confuse the Pi Zero with the Pi Zero 2.  They are very different.

At https://octoprint.org/download/ it says "Recommended hardware: Raspberry Pi 3B, 3B+, 4B or Zero 2"

I am using the "official" raspberry pi camera with a 3B+ and many plugins installed.  No problems.  I even routinely display the camera feed on two other systems at once (desktop and tablet).  Main differences performance-wise from 3B+ to Zero2 are: CPU clock (1.4G -> 1G), RAM (1G -> 0.5G)

I took it to the extreme and went with a Pi4 with 8GB of RAM. It's almost assuredly overkill, but it's definitely not struggling.

Any issues using the Pi4? I assume you power it separately and connect the grounds?

Any issues with a ribbon cable connecting the Pi to the Einsy?

I am not the guy you were asking, but I am running a Pi4B with 4gb on each of my printers for Octoprint.  Which I guess is only half as much overkill as Extra Fox is running?  Separate power supplies off the same power strip/surge protector that the printer is plugged into.  USB connection and it works well.  Not sure what would be the point of using a ribbon cable to connect Pi to Einsy since USB is easy and works well.  The only ribbon cable I am running is to the Pi camera for remote monitoring.

My setup is almost entirely like Netpackrat's.

I have an independent power supply for the Pi4. Previously I was just using one of the Pi4 rated plug in transformers, but since moving the whole contraption into an enclosure I now use a step-down converter from a 12v supply. In that process I did learn that the quality of the USB cable delivering the power seems to be paramount to making sure it doesn't under-volt.

I can't comment on the ribbon cable as I use one ribbon to connect a display and the other to a camera. I have a USB-A to USB-B cable connecting the Pi4 to the Einsy.

Pi zero was an attempt at a simple, compact solution.

In the early days of Octoprint the Pi Zero was more than capable of handling the task and still is if the basic function is all you need - but Octoprint grew and left the Pi Zero behind ... Luckily the Pi also grew and the Pi Zero 2 more than caught up - which of them contines to grow faster is anyone's guess.

Pi Zero 2 is fine. I have hundreds of hours of prints using it for both OctoPrint and capturing timelapses.

There are two different kinds of Raspberry Pi CSI camera connectors: 15-pin and 22-pin. The 15-pin connector is mostly seen on standard Raspberry Pi models (A&B series) and Pi camera modules; the 22-pin is on Raspberry Pi Zero-W and Compute Module IO Board.
