Hyperpixel 4" Touchscreen + LCD + Raspberry Pi4 for Octoprint and OctoDash Prusa for MK3s+

I posted a how to guide for my remix of other MK3S+ control panel + Hyperpixel 4" screen + Raspberry Pi 4 for OctoPrint and Octodash:

https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/69731-hyperpixel-4-touchscreen-lcd-raspberry-pi4-for-oct

The post includes a pretty thorough "how to" setup guide.

I've really been enjoying this setup, and I hope this inspires other remixes or is of benefit to the community.

Note: I received a series of private messages from a user who has attempted to replicate this build, but experienced “low voltage” error messages from OctoPrint that they have been unable to resolve, despite valiant effort. I have not experienced low voltage errors, but this appears to be a risk in this build.

Awesome

I really like this mod.  I might have to add it to my printers.  I have had a few low voltage errors with my Pi 4s.

Were you bored?

I dont see the point.  Everything you see and do on your 4" touchscreen, assuming you have the fingers of an infant, can be seen\done on the prusa display.

Hmm

I think I agree.  I still want to try it.

Sleep mode

With this addition have you implemented a way for both screens to go into a sleep/powered down mode. I understand the 8bit  original screen is either on or off according to power switch and the power saving is negligible.  But still I want this functionality.

The hyperpixel touchscreen just makes everything easy. Yes, it is an unnecessary luxury!

I use the hyperpixel on almost every print. My printer is nowhere near my computers, so I send print jobs from prusaslicer directly to octoprint, then go to the printer, select the sheet I need for that print, change the filament, then select the print file from the hyperpixel. It's just so easy with the touchscreen.

Also, moving the X, Y, and Z axis is so easy with the touchscreen. Also, selecting pre-heat mode is so easy.

These are all minor points but they add up for an improved experience.

RE:

@rockethorse: Does this Hyperpixel and Octoprint combination allows you to scroll through all the print files on the SD-Card and to see a 3D view of a file before (!) starting a print (same behaviour as on the Mini+)?

Not sure about the mini behavior because I don't have one. With this setup you can scroll through all the filenames of prints sent to octoprint, and when you click in each you see a preview thumbnail of the print if you have thumbnails enabled on the slicer and thumbnails activated on octoprint.
