My Toshiba W-04 card finally arrived and I followed your instructions.

However, it failed whenI tried to map a network drive, either by IP address or by browse function.

what type of computer, mac/pc, and what error?
screenshots of before and after the error would be appreciated.

Thanks for the tip about adding the hostname. I'm a numbers guy so I always opt to use the IP address, I do it at work too with my print servers.

I'll post back if it works.

me too, but with the hostname the \ is implied or automatically applied. Plus using browse on the mapping page will normally add in the needed slashy's

Is there a reason why you use it?
Because this flag reduces your WiFi Range significantly.

good point. for me it increases speed. but my router is a foot from the computer and 2-3' from the computer. so no worries for me. others might not be similarly situated. I really wish i could edit the op to add this info.

Have some questions associated with the FlashAir card, specifically with Mac if applicable.

Can we set up the network share to have a Name like “Prusa MK3” instead of the IP of the card?

Can someone go over in detail how to implement the Alternate Option? What needs to be added and or subtracted form the CONFIG file?

Is this APPNAME= for the user to see the card as a "selected name" or simply an internal identifier?

Where does this “APPNAME=” feature appear when enabled? I dont see any hint of what this APPNAME effects on my machine when added to the CONFIG file? I might be confused as to its purpose though?

i do not know mac's but i believe it should show the appname you select.
maker sure all of the stuff which mentions ip addresses is not included and that DHCP_Enabled=yes

Chris, I appreciate your help but adding the \ did not resolve the issue. I tried updating the firmware and with the latest firmware it mapped a shortcut to the drive on my desktop. Clicking the desktop shortcut yielded the same error.

This card will go back and I'll pickup the W-04. If that doesn't work I'll chalk it up to a network issue and do the SD card sneakernet shuffle.

Don't feel bad, I've been building networks for 20 years and I can't get a DNS name working either. No configuration I've tried, will get this card to advertise a NetBIOS or mDNS (Bonjour) name on my network. Neither my router nor any of my network scanners has ever seen this thing put out any name (with the exception of vendor name and SSID name).

Communication via IP works perfectly, but DNS functions seem to be broken. I have a W-04 on FW4.00.2.

Press Start button (Windows Flag)
Type Control Panel
Click Advanced sharing settings
Under Domain select the Turn on network discovery radio button
Click Save changes
Now try accessing the network share and you should be able to access it.

When nothing else works to get a host name working, i used to edit the "hosts" file on my computer, to map a name to a ip.

i have no idea which post you are referring to. some of them talk about a 192.168 network some refer to a 10.10 network. i have no idea what you config is and or what your network is right now.

First of all, you mix up values from the [Vendor] and [WLANSD] Section.
This could be part of the reason.

Then you use NoiseCancel.
Is there a reason why you use it?
Because this flag reduces your WiFi Range significantly.
Are you able to perform a regular Upload via the cgi?
If that works, you perhaps have a problem with your WiFi config.
like "blocked" funktions or ports in your Router.
I´m not able to connect a network drive when i try to use the root like you did.
I had to create a folder on the SD card and use it.
Something like this: UPDIR=upload.

My wifi router is DHCP enabled, so I set DHCP enabled =yes.
I create a folder named "3dprinting" under the root directory as suggested.
For network drive mapping (windows10), I entered //flashair/3dprinhting/ and wow, it worked! (drive name not shown up in browse function though)

The only problem I have now is that when transferring big file (about 30Mb), error appeared saying that the file size was too large.
Luckily g-code files are usually very small, so far it is not a big deal. But wonder what's wrong.

I have to say 3d printing community is just wonderfull. People are kind enough to help out each others. Perhaps it is the nature of makers.

That looks very clean now. Thumbs up!
The only thing that should be rooved over ist DHCP=YES while using a dedicated IP address.
With those entrys you tell the Client to receive an IP from the DHCP-Server the same time your Client has already a dedicated IP.
This Configuration seems to work in your LAN but it can also end up with an IP-Error.
You should either use DHCP or a dedicated IP.

There is one other value i would change.
If you only have one DNS-Server, theres no need to assign a secondary DNS-Server with the same IP.
No real problem, just cosmetics.

I've been transferring a 72 mb file (17hr prints) a day or so ago without any issue.

chris.n6 Thank you for all your work on this forum. My FlashAir 04 just arrived MK3 will be here tomorrow. Looking at all these post I'm a little confused where to start. I was wondering if you could add one short post with edits to your first post if needed. My printers next to the router so it looks like adding NOISE_CANCEL=2 would be good, also plan to use the dedicated IP address, i'm not sure if there's are any other changes you would recommend.

Good point. I just did the folder so I could get something more descriptive in my side bar in windows.

YOu can easily rename mapped drive with F2...
