Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

Sorry wasn't commenting on order of the steps. Thought you were implying you had finished all the steps and it still wasn't working.

I skipped ahead in my config process both times and immediately manually configured the card as a wifi client via terminal (without checking to see if it showed up on the network). But there is nothing wrong with doing it in the order listed.

Now that you point it out, Step 6 is a little confusing. It says check and see if it's connected to the router...but it's not going to connect to your router until after you've changed the AppMode to 5. It's default is 4, so at this point in the instructions it's still broadcasting as its own AP. Like I said, I kind of skipped over Step 6 and went straight to manual configuration.

Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

- card will connect only to subnet 192.168.0.x, i guess it would also to 192.168.1.x (i didn't try it myself, but i've read that some people had succes), but that's about it. I've had subnet 10.x.x.x in my local network and it just didn't connect, so i had to remap my whole house 👿 (yes, i did try manual IP setting, but it's a no-go).

That's unfortunate if it holds true for all W-03 cards. My W-04 connected to my 10.x.x.x network with no issues.

This forum convinced me to try one. I received it today and set it up on my network without issue (following the directions listed here). My network is 192.168.1.x. Oh yeah, I haven't receive my MK3 yet (end of Feb.) but it is working like a charm in my MK2 clone.

Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

I have version W03 and after hours of playing i managed to get it to work. So, here are my findings:

- card will connect only to subnet 192.168.0.x, i guess it would also to 192.168.1.x (i didn't try it myself, but i've read that some people had succes), but that's about it. I've had subnet 10.x.x.x in my local network and it just didn't connect, so i had to remap my whole house 👿 (yes, i did try manual IP setting, but it's a no-go).

- card definitely supports spaces in password entry, while i can't be sure for SSID. I have single word SSID and password with three words (so i have two spaces) and card connects just fine.

- you can also achieve fixed IP such way that you fix IP and card's MAC in your router.

Strange, I have two W-03 cards and they work with no problems on 10.0.0.x network with fixed IP.
There was a firmware update to W-03 on Toshiba FlashAir site I used to get the cards to work (over a year ago).

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

I did FW update, yes. And i played with it over three hours with no luck...
Well, what's done is done. Now i have all my devices back to old addresses. I switched to 10.x subnet because it's easier and quicker to type. Maybe i'll get W04 one day.

*edit: I think I have changed APPMODE=4 to APPMODE=5 via terminal using your step 7 instructions.

I believe this has me up and connected to the network now!

If possible it might be a good idea to slide that detail in before "Step 6" APPMODE=4 to APPMODE=5

That seems to have been my hangup the entire time.

Yeah, i cannot edit the first post but i have sent a request to a mod to see if it can be changed. what it should say is to check, as you did, to see if the card is showing up as an access point, THEN to change to appmode=5 to configure it as a client.

sorry

so when it was on 192.168.x.x it worked but you have changed back to 10.10.x.x and it does not?

can you copy the code from your config file and paste it?

No, i've had on 10.x.x.x at first (actually it was 10.6.5.x), because that's what i've had my system set up. After hours of unsucsesfull tryouts i took my old router out of the dust, power it up and on 192.168.0.x wifi card connected instantly. my config file is attached - it was exactly the same before, only IP address was different.

Thanks for the guide.

I had to initialise the card before it started showing up on the network, but otherwise all good... and now printing from it!

When setting up local networks, the subnet mask is paired to the IP address. The "192.168.x.y" family uses a mask of "255.255.255.0", while the "10.x.y.z" family uses a mask "255.0.0.0".

In any case, these are not hard rules, but are recommended by the standard committees. I worked on network protocol software for too many years 😐 and recall that mismatch of mask level between router and client may cause problems. Always better to have all devices on a subnet share the same mask.

IP_Address=192.168.0.70
Subnet_Mask=255.255.255.0

IP_Address=10.6.5.x
Subnet_Mask=255.0.0.0

Cheers & happy printing,
Robert

i'd change the highlighted bold text to 10.10.x.x and i'd also suggest entering the mastercode /mac as i have in the steps. both will help it connect to your 10.10 network

Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

I followed the steps in the OP and can see that the card is connected to my router but Windows 10 says it cannot access it. I can ping the card successfully.

Here are my settings:

If you are sure that's the right ip I'd try to map \\192.168.1.217\
The last backslash is not optional

If I was you, I'd also consider using appname=nameyouwanttocallthecard
In the config file to make it easier to find using the browse button on the mapping page

Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

Hi chris.n6,
My Toshiba W-04 card finally arrived and I followed your instructions.

However, it failed whenI tried to map a network drive, either by IP address or by browse function.

Here is the content of the config :

[Vendor]

UPLOAD=1
UPDIR=/
WEBDAV=2
DHCP_Enabled=NO
IP_Address=192.168.1.99
Subnet_Mask=255.255.255.0
Default_Gateway=192.168.1.1
Preferred_DNS_Server=192.168.1.1
appname=prusaflashair
NOISE_CANCEL=2
DNSMODE=1
CIPATH=/DCIM/100__TSB/FA000001.JPG
APPMODE=5
APPNETWORKKEY=**********
VERSION=F15DBW3BW4.00.02
CID=02544d535733324755e1eba27b011a01
PRODUCT=FlashAir
VENDOR=TOSHIBA
APPSSID=Linksys02309
LOCK=1
MASTERCODE=EC21E54694C0
APPAUTOTIME=1800000

Do you see anything wrong?

Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

First of all, you mix up values from the [Vendor] and [WLANSD] Section.
This could be part of the reason.
You can find all the related information here: https://www.flashair-developers.com/en/documents/api/config/#EXAMPLE
Even a config example. 😉
Then you use NoiseCancel.
Is there a reason why you use it?
Because this flag reduces your WiFi Range significantly.
Are you able to perform a regular Upload via the cgi?
If that works, you perhaps have a problem with your WiFi config.
like "blocked" funktions or ports in your Router.
I´m not able to connect a network drive when i try to use the root like you did.
I had to create a folder on the SD card and use it.
Something like this: UPDIR=upload.
I hope that helps you.

And do not use blank´s in your passwords.
Just in case you do/did so.

Like i said: i don't have any problems using blanks (spaces) in password.

Kawah.c --> did you try the way i posted above? You don't have [WLANSD] section at all...
Oh, and watch out for CID and VERSION numbers - they must be from YOUR card, not mine...

Silly but I'll add the last backslash and give it a go. I can completely understand why that's logical because I was thinking that it was a permission issue.

Thanks for the tip about adding the hostname. I'm a numbers guy so I always opt to use the IP address, I do it at work too with my print servers.

I'll post back if it works.
