Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

Have you pressed reset on the printer or cycled the power when re-inserting the card after a configuration change on the card, I was pulling my hair out with this card for days when I first got it, same as you until I realised this.
I am at work this evening, but will post my complete configuration settings tomorrow which works faultlessly.

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.

Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

here you go, now it will not work in the root directory, so I created a folder called G_Code and this is what I mapped as a network drive.
This allows me to right click on the file and Send to and select this mapped folder from the list. Easy when it is working.
Just repolace the YourSSID, PWD and MASTERCODE with yours.

. Easy when it is working.
Exactly. WHEN it is working... This config has been posted in this thread ...i guess a million times. It's not wrong config, it's card itself...
And, may i say, even when it works transfer rate is damn slow. RPi is a rocket comparing with Wifi card...

Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

When it's working, transfer is actually very fast on mine.
I wonder if you got a fake card from somewhere like ebay or allegro or banggood.
Is there any chance you can return it for a refund and get another, Oh and maximum 32GB, 64 GB does not work.
My router access point is in my attic under the roof top and is about 5m from my printer.

Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

I bought it used, but it's W03, not 04. I guess that latter has somewhat higher speeds...
My router is 2m from printer, so connection can't be the issue. I've had various problems, one of them was that card refused to connect into 10.x.x.x network, i had to change my whole network to 192.168.0. Well, at second try 2-3 months later it connected to 10.x.x.x network, but problems quickly began.
No, i'm done with wifi SD. Too unreliable. I just won't deal with it for 2 days every month or so just to get it working...Octoprint is working very well for me (i have RPi3, not zero). I have remote control and video, i have notification when print ends...

Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

I changed my mind on the Octoprint idea when I read all the frustration with file transfer speed. I am mainly interested in copying gcode files from my PC to the printer. Remote control/access of the printer is not a requirement.

Is a FlashAir card faster/slower and more/less reliable than a Raspberry B+ and Octoprint?

Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

In my case Rpi is faster and more reliable. I didn't use it at first, i waited that all problems have been solved. But now it's rock stable. I chose to use Pi3 instead of zero, only because it's faster and because i also installed desktop.
I don't really need remote control, but i do have a camera and it sure comes very handy for quick checkout.

Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

Hi, I have a W-04 64GB card, unfortunately the only model currently available on Amazon.

I updated the card firmware.
I repartitioned and reformatted the card to 31GB FAT32.
I reinitialized the card.
I edited the config to put it in STA mode.
The Mk3 can read the SD card.
I can connect over WebDAV and copy files to the CD card.

But, the Mk3 is not recognizing it as a FlashAir card.
After copying files to the card, I need to remove and re-insert it else the Mk3 does not see the newly copied files.

What do I need to do to make the Mk3 recognize the card as a FlashAir card?

Re: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

I've struggled a little with this just like some others.

I purchased a W-04 32GB card, and updated it straight away with my Mac to the latest firmware, but the connection was not working. I could connect using the iPhone app using the FlashAir SSID, but some of the functionality wasn't there and I was requested the MasterCode repeatedly.

Manually updating the files made no difference and although the card was able to connect to my network, it was still not visible to any devices.

As an IT professional, I have access to a number of PCs and tried the Windows firmware update version instead. Everything went very smoothly and I was able to connect the iPhone app without issue. I manually updated the CONFIG file on the card to match the configuration discussed in the Prusa guide, and everything worked as it should (although I don't get the IP address listed on my Support screen).

So for others still struggling, I'd recommend using a Windows PC to update the firmware on the card and to try again from there.

Hope this helps at least some people...

Just wanted to add that it is possible to transfer the G-Code files while the printer is in operational printing, no problem! Wify works for me...... 😀 😀 😀

RE: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

Hey folks,

 Was very excited about this card, but I ran into an issue that I can't find answers for. I got the 64GB version and it wouldn't work in the printer, but worked fine outside of it, due to being exFAT. I reformatted the card to FAT32 and now I can't even get the configuration utility to recognize the card. Nothing I do including re-adding the config files will get either the software updater or the configuration utility to recognize the card as a flashair card, they just both try to "confirm the software version" multiple times and then error out.

Was there some kind of top secret partition I accidentally wiped out? Has anyone else had this issue?

The SD reader does not recognize 64GB cards, lots of discussion on this above and in other threads.

RE: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

Right, and I was under the impression that was caused by the exFAT file system not being supported by the I3. Many have had success with the 64gb cards reformatting to FAT32 and reinitializing the card, but now that I've reformatted I can't get the configuration utility to recognize the card at all. It won't let me into the menu to reinitialize it, it just tries to "confirm the software version" and eventually fails out. Has anyone else had this issue?

Is there a way to set up a "secure connection" to avoid getting this error message each time?

On Mac using Mojave this prompt pops up each time now when trying to utilize the FlashAir card.

Can this be setup to utilize SSL or another way to bypass this prompt?

I'm in the same boat.  Latest firmware on a 64GB W-04 Flashair, reformatted to FAT32 (using a Mac in case that's a potential problem), can connect to the card over WiFi no problems but the Prusa just won't read from the card.  Help very much appreciated

RE: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

Has anyone found any limitations regarding IP address space for the config? I had to move from a 10.0.0.0 subnet to 192.168.42.0. Suddenly I'm not seeing the flashair card on the LAN anymore. The MAC address isn't even showing up in scans. Unfortunately I don't have access to DHCP logs to verify that the card is even making requests.

Is there some easy way to verify that the card is even still working? BTW, I can still write files to the card when mounted on my laptop. Did the wifi side of the card finally go belly up?

My config is:

RE: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

Looks like Mac users that have moved up to Catalina are in a bind for the time being:

https://www.toshiba-memory.com/products/toshiba-wireless-sd-cards-flashair-w-04/

There are some incompatibilities with their software and "should" be fixed this month. Perhaps that is what I'm experiencing since I tried to update the config with old software on new OS.

RE: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

I am having an issue that no one else seems to be having. My FlashAir is dropping out.

I have a W-04 running latest firmware (31st Jan 2020), windows 10 64bit. Updated FW, initialized card, then changed config settings, then modified config file like guide says.

I have tried;

Setting up it's own dedicated WiFi network

Adapting every single config posted on this thread to suit my settings. (All still don't assign IP)

Previous and latest firmware.

Connecting to 2 different routers (Netgears D7000 & WNDR4500) on the same network

An entry is there for the FlashAir but there is no IP being assigned to it. (Can tell by MAC address)

I've even tried reserving an IP for it in the routers settings to no avail.

Even though there is no IP being assign according to my router, I can still access to SD card files on 192.168.1.60, but then the connection drops out.

Here is my config file after I followed the guide

[Vendor]

CIPATH=/DCIM/100__TSB/FA000001.JPG

Default_Gateway=192.168.1.1
Preferred_DNS_Server=192.168.1.1
NOISE_CANCEL=2

I've tried with and without noise cancel, using DCHP, setting an actual upload folder, different IP's, WiFi channel from auto to 6/7, nothing stops it from dropping out.

I have no filter or parental controls turned on on my router. I've tried an access point router with no security turned on at all but still won't assign an IP.

Here is another config file I tried based on zaz's config post.

[WLANSD]

ID=Prusa

If I take the SD card out and put it back in, when it first shows up in my attached devices list on my router, I can access it through a web browser on 192.168.1.60 and I can ping it with cmd;

But then it just drops out on cmd even though it is still showing as connected in my attached devices. Eventually it drops out from the router too but I can't see why. Distance to the router is not an issue.

It works for about 1 minute 30 seconds. I've taken a vid, my wife plugged the SD card into my laptop right next to my router and when CMD detects a ping response I start the timer. I can browser the files no problem on the SD card for 1m30s then it just drops out for no apparent reason and never comes back online without taking out the SD card and putting it back in.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/dgnmm5es5saaee9/Video%201-2-20%2C%205%2021%2057%20pm.mov?dl=0

Any help will greatly improve my lifespan 👍

Thank you.

RE: Flashair Wifi SD card setup and drive mapping

Update, scouring the internet and finding multiple guides and trying them, it's still dropping out.

As mentioned in other guides I've also tried modifying the file with sublime text editor instead of notepad because apparently notepad can cause issues and following another guide, I've tried formatting the card as a FAT32 instead of an exFAT to no avail.

I also went for a drive to somewhere with no houses and used my phone as a hotspot with my config file set to connect to it to determine if it was an interference issue. Exactly the same thing, on my Iphone the blue bar appears telling you a device is connected when I put the SD card in my laptop, then about 40-60 seconds later, the blue bar disappears and never comes back.

I've been at this for 6 days now so i'm going to give up on trying to get it working in STA (AppMode 5) for now. I'll follow this guide: https://mattshub.com/blog/2017/04/11/flashair-sd-card to set it to Access Point mode instead and I'll see how that goes.
