Firmware Notification & Octoprint
Hi all,
I am using Octoprint on my MK3 and that all fine. Recently whenever I go to print from Octoprint, the MK3 beeps and says there is an update available or something to that effect on the LCD screen. Octoprint will not print until I walk over to the printer and press the knob in.
Not an issue when I am home but when I want to start a print remotely, i am SOL until i get home.
Of course, I understand its only an issue because I haven't updated but its something that could occur every time firmware gets updated.
Is there a timer, a way to turn off the notification, or a way to continue my print remotely?

I'm not using Octoprint, but I believe it uses Slic3r for slicing. Slic3rPE inserts a line like:
M115 U3.3.1 ; tell printer latest fw version
at the top of the generated gcode to tell the printer what firmware version it was sliced for in case there are incompatibilities or enhancements. Ideally, you'd update your printer firmware in case there are issues (a lot has improved recently) but until then, if you can figure out where to customize the startup gcode for Slic3r under Octoprint, you could just remove that line.

M115 U3.3.1 ; tell printer latest fw version

I just setup octoprint and i think it uses the cura engine by default to slice not slic3r, not that i think slicing on the pi itself is a great idea anyways. There is however i believe a plug in that will use slic3r not cura.

Ah, of course. There is a similar line in the printer profile gcode for Cura desktop with the Prusa profiles. I assume that's being used on Octoprint as you've got it configured.

I may be backward, but I use Slic3r on my laptop and then submit the job from Slic3r to a Raspberry Pi 3 attached via usb to the MK3.
I thought that Slicing on the Pi would be painful.
Can you edit a submitted job live? I havent done that before.
It will use my google fu and see. I didnt know about Slic3r adding the line.

1) Go to Printer Settings
2) Click on the Custom G Code icon
3) Examine the 'Start G Code' section - Look for the following line:
M115 U3.5.0 ; tell printer latest fw version
4) Delete said line.
5) Save your printer settings as a personal variant.
