Double spool holder
As MANY people do when they first get a printer, I know I want/need a fancy spool holder. As you do. I knocked up a triangle type design initially, but after doing more research I'm leaning toward something like this:
Imagine two of those knocked up to attach to the stock Prusa filament holder post.
I could replicate the connection at the T and have two rolling spindle spuds sticking out instead of the static sticks.
Which brings me to my question. Does anyone have a STP or STEP model for the stock Prusa double holder? I know it's injection molded so it likely won't be a printable part model they provide. As luck would have it, I design parts and their molds for an injection molding company so I could possibly mold the spud. Of course I'd have to have other people interested in the idea before I made a mold, but that's getting ahead of myself. I could reverse engineer the parts when they get here (kit is ordered), but I was hoping to get a jump on the design work.
RE: Double spool holder
I have also designed and built/printed a ball bearing spool support. I can post the dimensions of the gantry frame and molded support that you need, if you like. There is a .stl of a printable support 0 the main website. Download that and open it your modeling software. So as a side question; As a 45 year journyman, design, build, mostly prototypical scientific stuff. I am very familiar with PTC Creo and MasterCam.
What CAD program do you use?
RE: Double spool holder
Did you manage to find the 3D model of this? I really want to make a custom addon for it
