Screen crash when I connect the hot bed!!!

Hello to everybody!!!

My problem is that when I connect the hot bed, the screen "crash" (like if disconnect and connect immediately). Definitely, is impossible to print with the hot bed. 😥

In other words, when I see the red led shine from the bed, immediately the the screen feel down and restart. 😥

Without hot bed, I can print normally. The nozzle work well and the printer is new (I finished the kit two weeks ago). 😀

It happens in the "Prehead" settings and "Temperature" settings equally.

Then:

- The bed's thermistor read ok the temperature.
- I flashed the firmware and the problem persist.
- I have alternated the two connectors from the power drive, and it has the same effect.
- If I disconnect the bed socket (from the board) and put on the "preheat" settings, the screen is good. In this moment, I test the bed pins of the board and I can see 12 volts (with the electronic tester).
- Like a try, If I disconnect the bed socket and connect a 12v 50w light, the result is good: the light shine. But if I connect two lights 50w + 50w (100w) the result is the same like with the bed: the screen crash.

I'm sure that we have a hardware problem: the bed and/or the board. 😮

I have yet pending one last test: connect the bed with an external power driver...

Ideas????????? Thanks in advance!!!!!!! 💡 💡 💡

Hello Rafael,

I was wondering if you found any other solutions to your problem. I am currently experiencing the same issues, and like yourself, disconnecting the heat bed seems to do the trick - which will work for now as I'm only using PLA, but in the future when I move onto ABS, I will need the heat bed.

I'm assuming that with the external power supply powering the heat bed directly, you have no control over the temperate from the software?

Check all cable connections regarding heatbed. It looks like there might be some sparkling somewhere, when the heatbed goes on. The LCD communication is only one way. If the shown text is broken, refreshing the screen should fix it. Jump into menu and back.

Agree with Petr; take out all 4 high-power connectors (PSU and heaters); ensure the screws are really tight and re-insert them, giving an additional push and make sure they are all inserted level.

You could re-insert then a couple of times, just to ensure the connections are clean. Make sure you haven't managed to drop anything into the sockets.

I had the same problem. I even bought a new bed but it did nothing. Until I added a little more solder to the under-side connections. It solved the issue and I can use my bed again.
