Octoprint?

Has anyone tried it with the Prusa i3? How good can it get? It does connect at least.

Re: Octoprint?

Hi Diego

Yes, its rather good. I have 2 printers and 2 RasPi 2B running OctoPrint. No problems with full control and can view and control the printers wherever I am.

Re: Octoprint?

Hi Richard

It really should take only an hour to set up, maximum 2 hours. If you have any queries, post them here.

Will you be connecting a webcam? What make/model? Wired or WiFi network? At least 8GB micro SD card?

Re: Octoprint?

Webcam will be the Pi camera with a longer cable. Network will be wired since I will be powering the Pi from the Rambo. As for the SD Card, I'm not sure if I will go 8 or 16 GB. 8 should be plenty but I'm not sure if I can find an 8GB card here in town.

Richard

When you start taking timelapse of long prints, you will need a bigger SD card. The images are stored individually in a temp folder and then rendered at the end. 16GB will be good.

OctoPi/Print should work without any config changes.

Re: Octoprint?

Hmmm, hadn't thought about the need of the timelapse files. Maybe 32GB?

I will have to do some small configuring on the network settings as I prefer to use static IP addresses.

Re: Octoprint?

Hi Richard

I would say that timelapse is more of a "want" than a "need". I did it a few times, then got tired of it...

I think you can set up the NIC config on the Windows PC before moving the card across.

When I went to buy the SD card, 16GB was the best value-for-money, so I went with that.
