latest firmware won't install
I get an error message from the updater saying it's unable to open the hex file & something to do with avrdude.exe ? Hex file on same drive as fimwareupdater etc - I'm using Windows 10 64bit if that makes a difference? I'm able to find the printer etc but it won't accept the hex file - yes I have the correct file. I've tried running as administrator, also tried running 1.6.0 as well & they gave the same error.
Any ideas?

I ran into a similar problem after putting my kit together.
By chance, do you have the usb cable hooked up to a usb hub? If so, try plugging the cable directly into one of the computers usb ports.
Also, try connecting to the printer with Pronterface and see if you can establish a connection that way.

Thanks for the reply Ami . I have the printer connected to a long USB extension cable (about 7.5m) as the printer is in a separate room to my PC, I can connect with Pronterface no problem. I will take the printer into the same room as the pc tomorrow & plug it in directly as you suggested & let you know the outcome.

I'm actually gonna guess that when you hook it up directly, it will update no problem.
Since you mentioned that pronterface connects, it sounds like that usb extension cable is only transmitting data, not power. I've had similar power problems when trying to use those usb extensions before. I'm assuming the rambo board draws power from the computer's usb port when being re-programmed.
I could be wrong, but thats what it sounds like to me with the given details. I hope everything works out!

Still no joy even after connecting directly to pc on Win 10 - BUT it was fine connecting to Win7 & I seem to be sorted now.
