How to decrease overall print speed?

I am using Prusaslicer 2.1.0. Included is a simple model, but on 100% speed, it fails all the time. However, when I manually adjust the speed after it starts printing to around 50%, it prints great. I want to be able to set the print speed to whatever I want in the slicer so I don't have to Tune the print after it starts printing. Can someone tell me how, please?

Thank you.

Thank you, Bobstro. So changing the, max volumetric speed, to something like 40 would prevent each print speed feature to not go over 40mm/s? I believe I tried this already but the percentage on the printer's display stayed at 100%. Is that what should happen, the speed on the display still shows 100% ?

Sort of. The MVS setting is measured in cubic mm/s (mm^3/s). The Prusa default is 15mm^3/s, so set it to something like 7mm^3/s. It won't change the speed displayed on the front panel. That corresponds to the M220 command and is what changes when you spin the front knob mid-print. If you want to see the changes, slice your part and spend some time in preview mode selecting the Speed view option.

RE: How to decrease overall print speed?

You can change speeds under Print Settings->Speed for individual features. A simpler approach is to reduce the Maximum volumetric speed on the same tab. This will allow printing at up to the speeds specified but apply a throttle when necessary to avoid exceeding the maximum rate the hotend is capable of processing.

Alternately, you could insert an M220 Sxx command into the startup gcode to set a reduced percentage.
