Changed 1st layer fan settings or bug?

This has got me stumped for a few days now, even after reading through the G-code: Since I updated to the most recent version of the Prusa Slic3r software (Mac), when I print with PLA the print fan is ALWAYS ON when printing the first layer. That is not the case for models I sliced with previous versions of the software. Is Fan On the new default setting for the 1st layer even when “Disable fan for first 1 layers” is checked? I am a pretty confused at this point...
Thanks

The fan for the heat break must always be on >50C, so I presume you mean the filament cooling fan (the one in front?).

I have not played with these settings in the new Slic3r, but you should have complete control over that fan.

Any advices given are offered in good faith. It is your responsibility to ensure that by following my advice you do not suffer or cause injury, damage or loss. If you solve your problem, please post the solution…

Yes, it's the blower fan mounted to the front of the extruder assembly. For PLA it should be off on the first layer but is not anymore. I will reslice some of my older projects to see what happens. Maybe comparing G-codes for the before and after upgrade files will help.

Re: Changed 1st layer fan settings or bug?

I have the same issue with the newest version of Prusa Slic3r (Mac). Just today I sliced two models to print in PETG with an older version that has the layer fan disabled for the first 3 layers. After that I downloaded the newest version of Prusa Slic3r and sliced the same model with the same PETG settings with the layer fan disabled for the first 3 layers. When I went to print the new gcode file the fan wasn't disabled for the first 3 layers, it turned on immediately when the print started.

Probably just have to use the older version until the newest one gets fixed, I assume its probably just a bug.

oh is this 1.36.0? i just changed from 1.35.5.16

there was a bug noted for the first layers and the fan ignoring the disable command

"Fixed a regression after Slic3r 1.35.5.16, where the fan was started from the first layer,
not respecting the "Disable fan for the first n layers" value #418."

“One does not simply use a picture as signature on Prusa forums”

I am using slicer version 1.35.5.21. I will install 1.36.0 to see if that fixes the problem.
Thanks for the pointer!
