Settings -> Calibrate Z
I'm curious. There is a "Calibrate Z" option under "Settings" (new Prusa kit received in December). I may have missed it, but can't find any reference to that Calibrate Z option in the manual or on the forum. 😕
Could somebody please tell me what does it do and how it should be used?
I'm having a lot of issues with PLA parts not sticking to the bed despite having re-levelled it several times, used glue (not the Elmer stuff which I can't find here), hairspray, slowed the speed of the first layer, increased bed temp to 60°, etc. and I'm wondering if it is perhaps connected?

Yes, I have seen that. I think I pressed it once, just to see what happened - basically no a lot - and have never used it again.

For hairspray to work, it needs to be non-perfumed, otherwise the oils it contains will prevent sticking.

Thanks for the quick reply and for your help. I will follow the advice given above. In the meantime, what bed temp do you use when printing on blue tape?
On my UM2, I have fantastic results printing PLA without blue tape nor glue. In an ideal world, I would love to find how to do that on the Prusa as it gives a really nice, smooth surface on the underside.
I'm still curious as to why there is a "Calibrate Z" option if anyone else has the answer???

Depends on part size; anything between 30 and 50 degrees.

Our supplied glue did not work?
Calibrate Z option, will home the printer in Z axis without homing the rest of the printer, and it will not lock the motors. You can then easily move the printer around with your hand and check calibration in all the corners 🙂

With regard to the glue, I'm still having some problems but I don't know if the glue is the culprit. It could be that I'm doing something wrong in Slic3r, the quality of the filament, or something else.
I'm having more success since I've started using Cura and moved the printer to a warmer place but it's still "touch and go". Every second or third print still detaches.
