Ringing/banding issue

I just built my first-ever 3D-printer, the MK2S-kit, last weekend and I'm seeing some sort of banding/ringing in my prints. It's quite upsetting me, I can see other people printing really beautiful results, but mine are marred these ugly bands 🙁

I've printed a bunch of 3DBenchies and a calibration cube with differing layer-heights and I tried to adjust the leadscrews, but it had literally zero effect and I don't know what else could be causing this. The printer says all axises are perpendicular, the 20mm calibration-cube is more-or-less spot-on, the holes on 3DBenchy are perfectly round as far as my admittedly-poor eyesight can tell.

EDIT: Forgot to actually add pictures

Re: Ringing/banding issue

X/Y belts too loose/tight; X/Y pulley with loose grub screw.

Oh? I was told elsewhere that it can't be the X- or Y-belts, that it has to be something wrong with Z-axis/leadscrews. I'm not trying to dismiss what you're saying, I just don't know who to believe, as I am a total beginner. If you are certain it is the belts and/or pulleys, how could I tell if the belt it too loose or too tight?

I gotta go for a while, but I'll return later on to check if you got any more guidance to give and then I suppose I'll try and see to the belts and pulleys.

In that case then it must be the Z axis/leadscrews.

It's always going to be a problem when you ask the same question in different places; you will always get different answers.

Up to you who's answer you go with. There should be enough clues to make that decision.

Perhaps to you, but I'm a total newbie and the only "clues" I see is the ringing/banding on my prints.

After having played around with the belts, I'm not seeing any improvement. The belts are a lot more loose now than they were at the beginning (they were pretty tight) and it's just not having any effect. I don't know what else to try, considering that there isn't much to adjust when it comes to the leadscrews.
