Problem with calibration

I have been printing with my prusa MK2 for almost a year now with consistent good quality prints, yesterday I started to have failled prints consecutively because of first layer not sticking. Since I hadn't done it in ages I tried to calibrate XYZ, but it failed because it could not detect bed calibration point. During the calibration the probe/nozzle is hovering a good 2 cm above the print bed, and the red light on the top of the probe is lit all the way through, doesnt seem to detect the bed.
I tried to upgrade firmware/factory reset but to no result.
But I noticed that the auto home function bring the printer head really close to the bed, while the pinda probe seems to detect the bed (flickering light)
Is it a known problem, any simple to fix it ?

Re: Problem with calibration

The XYZ Calibration moves down a fixed distance from the "stops" and starts to search for the calibration points. It starts high, and searches lower and lower till it triggers (which is why it is important to put the paper underneath and watch it, since it will search down into the bed.)

The Home Calibration, comes down till the PINDA triggers.

Did you let the XYZ search for a while so it would come down looking? Is your PINDA height set well?

Any advices given are offered in good faith. It is your responsibility to ensure that by following my advice you do not suffer or cause injury, damage or loss. If you solve your problem, please post the solution…

It comes down, searches for the first point for a while, then move quickly to 2 and 3 and search 4 for a long time, it rises a little between each point instead of getting closer to the bed. This run for 2/3 iterations and then the "XYZ calibration failed. bed calibration point was not found. " error appears.

Re: Problem with calibration

I'm having almost the exact same issues. Not 1 year success but 3 months successful. Then all of the sudden POOF all out of whack. On mine point 2 of 4 failed first with not tripping. Now it goes to 2 of 4 and gets deeper and deeper and digs into the bed. I have to hit reset to prevent damage. When it does that it jacks up the Left side Z and then that is uneven. I'm working with support and hopefully will get a resolution. Anyone have similar story?

Re: Problem with calibration

Hey everyone. Update. Between support and I we figured out my issue. The PINDA cable is bad. Not the connector in the Rambo box but something along the length of the cable. I can't post a video in here to show it but small nudge on the cable bundle at the top of the Rambo box would cause the PINDA light to go out. I didn't notice this since at first since it was on all the way up to the far right X. Anyway I posted the video in the https://www.facebook.com/groups/PrusaOfficial/ group if you want to see it. But if you are having similar issues I'd look at this and keep a close eye on the LED. Thank you Jennes De Schutter for sticking with me over the last day and also getting me a new PINDA sent out next day! Love it. Hope to see it soon and get back online.
