Printing without PEI sheet?

Can I print on the i3 MK2 bed after removal of the PEI sheet?

I ask because the PEI sheet is not tough enough to survive the warping forces caused by the large but thin prints I'm trying to print.

Polycarbonate filament with ABS juice, and Polymaker PC-Plus and PC_Max without additional measures adhere quite well, but the PEI sheet does not adhere well enough to the bed. It forms multiple small bubbles where the print is trying to lift off, and in one area these have joined into a big bubble.

I have seen bubbles in the PEI before, but they always faded gradually over a few days. This time, they are not fading.

So the PEI is damaged due to raised bubble areas and needs to be replaced, but the replacement will likely also suffer the same fate.

So I think I could possibly apply ABS juice to the bare bed (after removong the PEI sheet) and print on that.

Any thoughts about that?

Also, what is a good way to insulate underside of the bed? It only reaches 118C (in 27C ambient temperature) and the treal temperature (by IR measurement) is below 110C in most parts of the bed.
