Only one Z stepper working

Hello, I just finished assembling my printer and not all is well. Only one of the Z-axis steppers is working. I got into the calibration self test and it started to move the Z and only one side was moving. I marked one of the two Z stepper plugs so I was sure I knew which was which and swapped them to check if it was the motor or the board and when I tested again the other was moving (confirmed again by switching back) so it seems to be a possible issue with the board. Has anyone had a similar issue and have any advice? Thank you.

... so it seems to be a possible issue with the board. ...

it's very unlikely that something of the electronics is defective, because both z-steppers are connected in parallel.
check the connector that leads to the stepper that doesn't work, most likely that one of its four pins is misaligned or broken.

dem inscheniör is' nix zu schwör...

Re: Only one Z stepper working

Hello joseph!

Perhaps is it a broken copper trace on the rambo that is the culprit or maybe a faulty connector on the cable. The connector can be opened to inspect the copper strands by using a needle or a scalpel to unlock the small plastic tabs and gently pull the wire simultaneously. Note that it may be very hard to actually see a broken copper trace on the rambo - so maybe you can use a multimeter as well as a magnifier...

Thanks everyone, this was just a case of me being misreading the diagram. I had plugged the z motors into the bottom two slots on the board and the e into the ome that is to the side of the one second from the bottom. That was a mistake because it is the two that are side by side that are the z and the bottom that is the e. Thanks for the help, sorry it was just me misreading a diagram.
