Layer shift problem
Hi!
I have my Prusa i3 MK2S for 2 weeks and I'm still learning.
I bought assembled printer.
Please tell me why I have problem with layer shifting?
I printed two times the same 3d model to make sure is it one-time problem but,
two times I had the same problem but on different height.
File sliced in Slic3r Prusa Edition, default settings for 0,15mm layer, PLA.
Pls help! 🙂
Re: Layer shift problem
It is quite difficult to tell why you are getting layer shifts, but what is evident is the very poor quality print - probably dur to slicer settings.
Are you printing using Silent or High Power mode? If the former, than try the latter.
I would suggest that you print the Castle from the SD card and post a picture of that.

Re: Layer shift problem
I recently had that problem. I kept getting layer shifts with a specific file. After looking carefully I noticed that the nozzle was dragging on previous extruded sections. This made the motor slip.
The fix was using netfabb to repair the STLs. After this the part printed perfectly.
My problem was due to a bad STL file that when sliced, made the nozzle cross some already printed sections.
I now repair all downloaded parts.
Re: Layer shift problem
OK, so no layer shifts on the castle, so the hardware is fine. Therefore it is the model/slicer (as suggested by Vitor). Try using Z-Lift.
As for the stringing that is a temperature/retraction issue. The models provided are not "tuned" for specific filaments/printers; you need to adjust for that in the slicer.

Re: Layer shift problem
Thank you for help!
Now when I know that printer is fine I can work with slicer settings.
