Re: Heated Bed Causing System Reboot
I just finished assembling a MK2 that shipped on Jan 5th and have the same problem. The printer reboots during self test when it gets to testing the heated bed. I see the bed heater LED turn on for a split second before the reboot. I've quadruple checked my wiring and the PSU voltage position (which is set to 110V for USA). I'm wondering if there is a bad batch of PSUs when running at 110V which Prusa Research may not be able to catch as the Czech Republic uses 220V. I've contacted support and I'm waiting to hear back.

David,
This has been my hunch the entire time. I've been in contact with tech support for over a month now and they are very clearly giving me the run around. He must have asked me 3 times now if my voltage switch was set correctly! How many times can I say it's set to 110v. They even sent me a new bed, but it did not fix the issue. I ordered this printer at the beginning of November. I'm in disbelief that it is still just sitting.
Hopefully they find the issue soon. I don't want to have to take my business elsewhere!

Re: Heated Bed Causing System Reboot
Prusa Research are sending me a replacement power supply. Hopefully this will take care of the reboots.
Re: Heated Bed Causing System Reboot
Just received a new PSU from Prusa and it appears to have solved the issue!
Even though the original PSU was testing 12 volts on each lead, when a load was applied from heating the bed the voltage dropped and reset the printer. If anyone else has this issue, I'd recommend getting a new PSU, not a bed.
Sincerely,
Jesse
Re: Heated Bed Causing System Reboot
A replacement power supply also solve my reboot problem. I also noticed that the LCD turns on in less than a second now after flipping the power switch. With the original supply it took over 5 seconds for the LCD to turn on.
Re: Heated Bed Causing System Reboot
I have the exact same issue with a mk2 kit shipped on January 4, 2017. Yes, it took me a while to finally get around to assembling it!
I borrowed a 30A 12v power supply and the system reset/reboot problem when attempting to heat the bed went away.
Maybe a bad batch of power supplies or they just don't work right with 120v AC input?
Re: Heated Bed Causing System Reboot
More likely bad batch, mine was shipped at the end of January and works fine in the USA.

Re: Heated Bed Causing System Reboot
Hello Everyone,
My new Prusa is giving the exact same problem as discussed in this forum, ===> Printer resets when it tries to switch on the heated bed. I think it is due to a faulty PSU, we have 220 V in South Africa. I have measure the resistance of my bed to be somewhere between 1 and 0.8 ohms which seems fine.
For a quick test I unplugged both the power cables going into the board, and connected one directly to the heated bed. The LED on the bed comes on for a split second and the PSU resets for a split second, then the LED turns back on and the process repeats...
It seems like the PSU's high current protection is switching it off as soon as it starts to power the heated bed. I have worked with PSU's in the past and recognize this behavior.

Re: Heated Bed Causing System Reboot
I understand this is somewhat of an old thread but I just had the same string of issues described here. I first thought the issue was with the bed but after half a day of troubleshooting and dissection I found that the issue was the PSU.
I opened the PSU and found that two terminals had completely burnt away and the heat of the short had melted adjacent wires and caused more shorts.
One of you in this forum had been sent a new PSU which resolved the problem. If you still have the old one, take a look inside and let me know if you see the same issue.
Re: Heated Bed Causing System Reboot
I too had this problem, and thinking it was the heatbed itself replaced that, only to experience the exact same symptoms. I ordered the made well power supply listed here, swapped it out, and I'm in business now.
Tl;dr:
It's probably the 240v PSU not playing nicely in the states.
